what format for printing?

Hi Guys, I know the benefits of RAW and I always shoot in RAW so I can adjust in post production.

I was wondering though, once I have made any adjustments to the image and say want to take it to get it printed/framed etc is it best to have the amended image still in RAW (not sure if you can save an amended image as a RAW) and if now what format would you save it in to make for the best print (I would want the largest print I could get etc).

Just asking as whilst i've been taking photos for a wee while i've never actually printed any as yet.

Any thoughts/advice gratefully received.

p.s. i'm using a 500D if thats any use for the giving of advice.

Thanks all.

DSCL prefer JPEGs in sRGB Colour Space, so that's what I send them. If however you need to retain every last pixel of detail and smoothness of tones, then a 16bit packbitcompressed Tiff will be the best option.

Sounds like you might be using Lightroom, in which case keep the image in Lightroom and export to maximum quality JPG at the exact size you want for printing, when you want it for printing.

Ive just printed a 40x30 inch from a maximum res JPG and its fine. Most print places ask for JPG anyway, so give em that.
