What hood for my 500D and kit lens?

Just reading about hoods an that they help protect the lens and stop sunlight? But which one should i be getting for the kit lens, 18-55mm is?

The hood model is EW-60C.

A genuine one costs £21.99 from WEX.

But for all there is to it you might as well get a copy for a few quid off Ebay.

Some hoods are compatible with more than one lens, but in general different lenses require different hoods - depends on focal length, max aperture, rotating-non rotating front element, extending/non extending during zoom or focusing etc...

Hi

If you go to canons web site, it normally lists the lens hood that is required.

Another way is to google "genuine hood for canon ..........." and it normally the right one, if it brings up several, pop onto Canons site or a good photo shop site, punch the hood code in and see which model of lens it suggests.
