Yes
tried to get in here tonight, couldn't, just tried to get to my yahoo emails, i couldn't, logged in to ebay, and half of the bloody buttons are missing, whats going on:thinking: :wacky:

Let me guess? You're on NTL?

WINRAR!?

yes, so tell me...

NTL DNS servers are having a hissy fit, so the internet is effectively slowly dying for us.

BBC, google, gmail, MSN, ebay uk etc all deciding to die.

Yup , NTL strikes again . List of Shame

LOL - Wanadoo is doing just fine tonight though......just thought those on NTL might like to know! There's a lot of NTL customers in Harlow as some years ago the council gave them permission to strip out all the regular aeriel cabling and replace with their own......this means that if you receive your TV through a regular ariel you can't have a freeview box as NTL block the signal! Cheeky buggers! There is also no signal masts for radio etc - our clock radio will ONLY get the signal from the local station - nothing else is strong enough and the clock radio has no means of plugging into the ariel socket. :bang:

Bloody NTL. Hope it sorts itself out for you.

GfK: How are your speeds doing and are you having any problems.:ty:

No problems at all. Generally get about 4-5mb, full 8mb a couple of times.

Downloaded WinXP SP2 (270mb) in a shade over ten minutes.

I have never seen 8Mbps but quite happy with what I have..

The www.adslguide.org is full of complaints but they only seem to post with problems.. Never the success stories..:(

It may be due to the fact of this at my end why I am trouble free..(y)

Best thing about about ntl is the price reductions.

All you need is a few magic words....

I want to cancel my account......talk talk free internet......sky better digital

You get transferred to cancellations and hey presto the monthly cost gets reduced for a year and you might even get a free upgrade if you push your luck :)

At my previous work we had dual OC12 circuits, yes thats 2x 622Mb/sec pipes

The rest of the internet and the speed of your hard drives become the bottleneck :D

your all making me jealous, DF and Bod can tell you just how fast my connection is, i think DF is still waiting for a 1 kb text file we started transfering last thursday....

It's a connection?

I've been on ADSLMax since early March, but however, chose to go with EvolutionDSL :bang:.
Saw good speeds for the first week, then zzzzzzzhump, downhill since (but that was Evolution Traffic Shaping the connection to within an inch of its life).

Migrated to Nildram last week, and have seen nothing but ace speeds.

The BT Checker is always false busterboy, they play to very safe guidelines. When it says you can get a maximum of 512k, that's on the old BT ADSL lines (IPStream IIRC), ie Pre Max-ADSL. With the rollout of MaxADSL, your connection is now rate adaptive, in that your download speed (and line speed) is dependant on the quality of your line...(Noise etc).

The BT Checker always said I could never get 2 meg, and I would probably struggle to get 1 meg lines, due to the length of my line, and would require an engineer to test it.....Was happily on Pipex 2meg as soon as I could get it.
Never ever had a problem with my connection either.
The BT Checker also said on ADSLMax the maximum I could get is about 3.5meg due to my line. I connect at 8meg all day every day now, and my download speeds are consistently around the 6.5meg 7 meg mark. I have quite a few times seen download speeds of 800-850k (peaking at that), and easily sustained download speeds of 750ish k a sec (y). Just have to get a good source. Normally by the time a download gets up to full speed, it's been that quick, the download has finished so it doesn't get chance.....

I'm waffling now, I'd better shut up and go and get the school run done.

bah....

The word on MAXDsl is that BT are having major problems, they have stopped the mass migrations to it and are 'investigating' the problem. According to Zen who I'm with BT say they should have it sorted by mid June.

Interesting thread - I'm going on to 8mb in June courtesy of a free upgrade from Plus.

regards

i must admit, just had the NThell phone bill, for 1meg broadband, tv package(cheapest) , line rental etc, all for £30 a month, not 2 bad really.
Now somebody is just about to make me jealous with their package, so come on, lets hear it.

i pay 7.99 a month for my phoneline which i dont use (i think my last bill for calls came to 12p), i just dont use the phone, i was annoyed to find that i finally had to top up my mobile phone after my last £10 topup lasted me 2.5 months
i pay 24.99 for 8meg broadband which seems ok (im not getting full on 8meg speeds yet as my exchange isnt enabled for it, but im still getting around 250kb/sec downloads)
and my freeview box costs me nothing
