your all making me jealous, DF and Bod can tell you just how fast my connection is
It's a connection?
I've been on ADSLMax since early March, but however, chose to go with EvolutionDSL :bang:.
Saw good speeds for the first week, then zzzzzzzhump, downhill since (but that was Evolution Traffic Shaping the connection to within an inch of its life).
Migrated to Nildram last week, and have seen nothing but ace speeds.
The BT Checker is always false busterboy, they play to very safe guidelines. When it says you can get a maximum of 512k, that's on the old BT ADSL lines (IPStream IIRC), ie Pre Max-ADSL. With the rollout of MaxADSL, your connection is now rate adaptive, in that your download speed (and line speed) is dependant on the quality of your line...(Noise etc).
The BT Checker always said I could never get 2 meg, and I would probably struggle to get 1 meg lines, due to the length of my line, and would require an engineer to test it.....Was happily on Pipex 2meg as soon as I could get it.
Never ever had a problem with my connection either.
The BT Checker also said on ADSLMax the maximum I could get is about 3.5meg due to my line. I connect at 8meg all day every day now, and my download speeds are consistently around the 6.5meg 7 meg mark. I have quite a few times seen download speeds of 800-850k (peaking at that), and easily sustained download speeds of 750ish k a sec
. Just have to get a good source. Normally by the time a download gets up to full speed, it's been that quick, the download has finished so it doesn't get chance.....
I'm waffling now, I'd better shut up and go and get the school run done.
