Im recently returned from a holiday in France and couldnt help but notice the different brands of DSLRs people were using. The clear winner was Nikon with Canon coming a close second. Only saw about 4 Sonys thou :( one of **** was my own! There was the odd Pentax and that as well. How does this compare to what you lot have seen on your hols?
 
Other - Nikon with the single k in the middle. 2nd, Canon - again with the single n in the middle. I went looking at Camera shops to get an idea of prices and the only one I could find only seemed to stock Olympus DSLRs (Chania, Crete, Greece). Lots of Panasonic bridges around as well.
 
I saw loads of Sonys when I was in Norway this year. Lot's of people with Canon G9/10s too.
 
Canon cater for everyone, there a great company, none of this tilting screen business and fancy stuff no one uses. Thats the line Nikon are going down, more for show than for pro.

Having said that I wouldn't pass on a D3 :lol:

Movies and live view are only for p&s not real cameras :lol:, pound to a penny Canon will have a titling screen soon. I'd love one when shooting fungi very low to the ground to save crawling on my stomach.
 
I would say Canon, personally I use Pentax, and they are the best selling DSLR brand in Asia (last time I looked anyway, in particular the K7).
 
Canon, Hasselblad, Mamiya, Leica, Olympus and not always in that order. Oh and my other half's Fuji if it's closer!

Possibly because the images produced are more suited to tiny reproduction while Nikon users like to print their images... :D
 
I am glad you spelt Sony correctly! Canon (not CaNNon) and Nikon (not NiKKon)!!!!!

It depends how and what the cameras are used for. All top 3 manufacturers have great offers, but there are some drawbacks with each, and the prices vary from a few hundred to a few thousand £. Even the best camera can give poor results with poor handling.

Btw I use CaNon.
 
I've always been Canon ever since I switched to digital quite a few years ago.

Before that I was a Minolta man back in Film days, Had many of the Dynax series including the Dynax 9xi and the very last Dynax 9. Lovely cameras those :thumbs:
 
I've had 2 cameras, both of them Nikon, and I love them both. I had a D60 and bought a D300s a week ago and I love it :D

I can't believe it :eek: Canon are in the lead :thinking:

I have 3 Canon's, EOS650, 100, and 30D, use the 35mm most, just getting used to digital.

More like you dont get as good pictures with Nikon so everyone is scared to post :D
 
On flickr the D3x is rated 80th of all Nikon camera's probably due to it's price and flickr's amateur following.
 
I use my Nikon more than the Sony now for sure. But, I wouldnt get rid of my Sony. Its still a good solid second camera. I also dont have a telephoto lens for my Nikon (Yet!)

The wife asked me the other day was I going to sell it and I said no. I do like using it.
