Right I've got a pc. It's no good for storage, editing, or anything infact. So I gave a budget of around 400. Should I get a laptop or should I replace my pc tower? My screen is 21" and keybord is fine. What are your opinions and any suggestions. I'm going to run lightroom.

It comes down to where you want to use it?? On your desk or on the sofa, kitchen, garden?

You can always use your 21" screen with the laptop

Have a look at dell. Solid and reliable

Have a look at the dell outlet store online, some bargains to be found on there for laptops and towers.

Failing that, do some research as to the exact specs you want and build your own tower, at your budget this way well be the best option for performance / cost.

you can always use the screen and keyboard plugged into your laptop and then when you need to take it with you somewhere else you can ;)

I think the desktops days are numbered....

Oh I don't know what to do. I like the idea of a laptop and use an external hard drive aswell. But then I still need to locate my printer somewhere. Unless I can make that wireless too.

Wireless or just plug it in when needed

That is what I think Neil. But I think laptops are becoming just as good. Although with a laptop its harder to upgrade later on.

I had a laptop in the classified section recently that people kept fafin around over and not wanting! Lightroom needs a 64bit machine to work best...........

Do you feel confident enough to DIY? £400 would get you a new motherboard, i5-2500K and 16G of memory (push it to an i7-2600K if you have a bit more). You can overclock the i5 very easily. Assuming you already have Win7-64bit, a reasonable power supply and a reasonable HDD already. Tthat's the best upgrade path IMHO.
