Hi This is my first Thread on talk and was wondering what others would do in my situation....I have a canon 7d ..canon 17-85...canon nifty..canon 70-300m
m f4-5.6...and £500.......OPTION 1...buy a sigma 10-20mm f4.5 and a canon 430 ex 2...............OPTION 2 ............buy a canon 70-200mm f4.................OPTION3 sell my canon 70-300mm f4-5.6 and get a canon 70-200mm f2.8........any advice would be great :help:
 
I would............ post in the equipment section. :D Seriously though, more people will see it in that section of the forum.

What do you want to do that you can't now?
Landscapes?
Low light zooming?
Indoors shots of kids and pets?
Portraits?
 
As Steven said, we need a bit more info as to what you want to shoot before we can answer.

i do love my 10-20 sigma , its the only way to shoot landscapes ! also going to be used for fireworks this weekend :) BUT id love a 70 - 200 2.8.... lot of money though !

I've tidied up so it's clear what you're asking ;)

Odd, you don't mention selling the 17-85. Not that it sells for much, but a better lens in this range would probably make the biggest difference to most people.

I'd forget the 10-20 fixed aperture, I haven't seen a review that suggest it's any better than the older variable aperture model. There's a few reviews suggest it's image quality is worse than the older model.


As a colleague said to me.. If you don't know where you're going, an bus will do.. or photographically.. If you don't know what you're going to take photographs of, one lens is as good as another.

What do you want to take photographs of?
What do you need to do it?

Then it's a case of working out how you're going to get from what you've got to having what you need. With the fewest purchase mistakes along the way.
 
I am in a similar position, I am going to buy Canon f2.8 L 100mm Macro or Siggy 10-20mm next.

I want to go for the prime because it's great for portrait too, so not only will it open doors for that, it will allow me to get into the fascinating world of Macro Aswell...
