Mr Nod's answered..thanks. . I just recall a guitarist telling me, a long time ago, to listen to Steve Vai's music as I really like heavy metal even though I'm not 21 ..well retired now but still love to hear it. I don't know why I think only young people like heavy metal. There's another one, too. Gary Moore ,from NI, who used to play with Thin Lizzy. He's pretty amazing, too.I used to own a 1958 replica Strat. Fiesta Red/Flamingo pink.I had the Vox AC30 to go with it,too and still have the Roland Chorus Echo RE-301 in mint coindition.Didn’t he play guitar for the devil in the film Crossroads.? It's a great song. I thought Paul Anka (Canadian) wrote it but he didn't. It was originally a French song and Paul Anka re-wrote and translated it.Frank Sinatra, My Way![]()

i think you mean Alan ParkerContrary to popular belief Jimmy Page did not play on Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man. I think it was actually Alan Parsons. Although, John Bonham did play drums, I believe.
i think you mean Alan Parker
i suppose it depends on which part of Wikipedia you read to determine who really did play the instruments on that track or if you believe Jimmy Page's biography on his own website were it states he did play guitar on 2 of Donovan tracks one being Hurdy Gurdy Man the other sunshine superman
i'm a bit biased towards Jimmy Page as i'm a bit of a led zeppelin fan and i find a lot more chatter about Jimmy page playing guitar than i do Alan Parker
i don't mind being wrong though![]()
i haven't thought about Styx for years which is a bit sad because i used to be really into them a long time agoStyx , "Return to Paradise". Appreciate them much more thsn I did in the 70's. Lots of younger man memories.
As Cher sings," If I could turn back time".
My humble opinion, they never REALLY got the recognition they deserved. Like every long lasting band they wrote some terrible songs, nut their live concerts are very watchable.i haven't thought about Styx for years which is a bit sad because i used to be really into them a long time ago
it got me thinking if i actually have any of their music i know i used to but that was on vinyl and i did away with vinyl years ago
sooo..
i did a search through my CD collection which is pretty healthy and i couldn't find a single track by Styx
now you have reminded me how much i liked the band i'm going to have to rectify my problem
cheers![]()
