Whats happened to my Macbook CD Drive - Video included

The video is only included cos my crappy phone doesn;t do just sound recordings.

Bascally, I was just burning a few pics onto a RW CD, when as sometimes has happened before, the machine, mid burn, decides the CD is corrupt[happened loads before - crap CDs] so I get another few CDs out, and one by one try those - when my Macbook gives this response:


What's happened? It now won't even accept/recognise normal CDs and not just ones for burning!!! It gives the same reaction to anything I input :shake:I really can't have this breaking on me, and there's no reason it should be!!

I've restarted the macbook too, with no evail...Help *panics*


EDIT: It happily accepts and reads the Mac install disk, but nothing else...??? Everything else gets the response the video shows!!??
 
I can't watch the video at work, but my advice would be to take it to the Apple shop and get one of their geniuses to have a look at it, if you can't find anything online.
 
Thanks guys. thought that'd be the outcome, unfortunatlety I'm away from home until November, unless it can be sorted within two days, in which case middle October I'll have to take it in:(

Gutted I'm gonna have to wait this long!!!

EDIT: And thanks to that link will take my charger in too, then! Cos that's bust[got a cheapy from Ebay thats breaking too...But it isn't Apple made so won't obv take THAT in!!]

Well, my macbook can read DVDs too....I'm starting to think something slightly odd is going on - so will read software disks, dvd disks but not any form of CD

:shrug:

If it's obviously still playing up once I'm back home - then I will heading straight to the Apple shop!
