What's Your Other Hobby?

Well, this was my friends exact words in his last email ...

" The TransWales is about 50-60 miles each day with 2500M climbing each day. Then we
have timed race stages at each location before we put our tents up,
clean the bikes, stretch, wash, eat, sleep and repeat. Should be hell
but I'm sadistically looking forward to it"

... think I could manage eat & sleep bit!
sound awesome, thats the sort of thing I'd really like to have a crack at.

Thinking of doing the Coast 2 Coast this autumn, only about 130 odd miles though.

F1 Powerboat Racing - Rescue Diver (www.osprey-rescue.org.uk)
F2 Powerboat Racing - Radio Man (like a spotter in NASCAR to warn of trouble)
Powerboat Racing - UK Nationals and Barrow Club Racing - Rescue Diver
Moutain Biking - Just got a Cannondale Prophet 800SL
Supermoto Bikes - Do the photohgraphy but own a Husaberg 450
Computers - did play games but bought a Mac Mini so it's too underpowered

Now I see why I'm never at home in Summer !!!!

I don't have time for hobbies. :( Photography is it for me and I'm lucky if I can get that in when I want too. When do you all get the time for this stuff??? There just isn't enough time in the day!

Over the years I've been a hobby monster with huge interests in tropical fish and radio controlled aero models particularly. Clay and game shooting was a passion for many years, but that's more a way of life than a hobby.

Nowadays it's piano and keyboards.

I have 3 kids (my cats :D ) and my other hobbies are reading, drumming & my design work (mainly kids book illustration - which is also my job).
It seems like everyone loves mountain biking here - I used to ride a lot myself until I moved to the City :( .

Trying to take over THE WORLD!!!! hahahahahahahaha,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Other than that motorbike racing, I was going to try for my ACU license last year but a bit of trouble on the M6 and few broken bones put pay to that idea, So it's back to world domination for me im afraid,

So many of us are into bicycles, whay(y) I love it myself, although road cycling not mountain stuff, (used to compete and did ok, not anymore though) walking and trekking also a fave,...with bed and breakfast winning over yea old tent every time if possible.

Right, my hobbies.

Apart from my main business…A motorcycle workshop., which is work, although I don’t work very hard and quite enjoy most jobs nowadays because I do all racing diagnostics and exciting stuff like that… well its exciting if your and engineer and a petrol head. (I know I’m an environmental hypocrite)

So apart from that work..heehee. also run three other businesses, specialist tool supply business, web design (amateur ish), and the partner in the design of a fabulous new type of family board game that’s going to be marketed next year….possibly.

I also have several patents on small mechanical bits and bobs…and several pending, most for motorcycle application type things….although a have a few photography ones I’m thinking on for the future

This time next year….millionaire….etc….
…probably not though.

The theirs this year’s project;
A friend and I are trying to find the burial spot of a famous chap who died shortly after a battle in the Somerset area. We’re armed with maps, books and research and a metal detector. We've studied hour history and army tactics between the Saxons and Britons etc, and after several years of whimsical planning we've decided to actually try and find the grave of a guy titled by his fellow men as ‘the leader of men’ or 'Artorius' or Arthur. ;)

Yes where looking for his Roman Spada sword (The Welsh ornate type)…or Excalibur to you movie watchers. Possibly the daftest thing I’ve done…but It’ll be a right giggle I recon....we may have to do a little trespassing. :naughty:

I also like building street fighters. (Fancy motorcycles)
Track days and general biking larking about.....although I have been declining more often over the last few years because I can't deal with broken bones anymore and want to live to a ripe old age after all.  at me.
Music gigs and anything related. Etc etc etc.

Well you did ask.

Oh and I collect rare records as well….

...and theirs me thinking I need to get out more. :D

yes mate we have, sorry read your post, thought about chatting then realised I'd probably gone on enough already.

I have to say, I'm mightily impressed with your work so far, 10 games on the shelves...flipping good on ya. I can't ask about your game obviously, but damn good luck with it...doesn't sound like you need luck though. (y)

Our game is a traditional board game (although different) and my partner dreams of making it into a PC game...he looks at me ..and I clearly let him know I don't have skills to get anywhere near that....Flash is about as far as my animation/interactive abilities go, actual programming drives me screwy, I don't have the head for it :bonk: ...and we haven't perused that avenue with the potential venture capitalist type people either, ....as you guys a really expensive. ;)

We intend to have some sort of website though...nuf said me thinks.

You looking for a new project then, perchance..? ;) :D

Always. I only have one live project just now (which will be finished by October-ish, hopefully). I'm used to having two projects, occasionally three at once.
....as you guys a really expensive.
You'd probably be very surprised. My hourly rate for most games comes out at below minimum wage.

Films, Films, Films...oh and my family(sicken i know but true)

I'm watching a wonderful film on filmfour right now..its seeing me through my ironing really well :)

I do photography 7 days a week, I play bridge 2 days a week, I garden 1 day a week, I cook 5 days a week, see my mother 1 day a week, and I sleep 7 nights a week, overall I'm a happy chappy(y)

I can see this is my first post

Achery, although i dont get time any more...want to buy a bow?

mine are far more geeky...

I always have a book or two on the go
D&D
Online RPGs (Dark age of Camelot)
Magic: The Gathering
Motorsport (watching not participating unfortunately) when I get chance

I used to be into computing but not any more - i work with them all day so now I'm close to hating them with a passion

I used to be a petrol head in a big way, but the baby put pay to that and I sold my pride and joy and bought a boring family car :(

Here she is at last year's JAE:

Mmmm ... three pages of replies and not one mention of the dreaded "G" word! OK I'll admit it I PLAY GOLF! :puke: - played my first hole when I was four - it took my seventeen to reach the green & eleven putts  (well it was a par five?) - many years later I was playing the same hole with my brother & holed my second shot for an albatross (or double-eagle if your American)
Maybe I should combine my two hobbies & try some creative golf photography :geek:

You're not the only weirdo mate! :p

I don't really have much time for hobbies. I work six or seven days a week (shift work) try to spend as much time with my sons when not at work. Run errands for my disabled father and try to pay him at least one lengthy visit each week. Look after his house as well as my own.
Don't get to go and see as much motorsport as I used to. Also don't get to indulge in bodybuilding/weight training like I did a few years back. Really used to enjoy that. My eldest (15) wants to start going to the gym so maybe I can find some time with him.

Any chance you have the space/resources for a small home gym? Probably cheaper than membership and should give you more time with your son too.

Hobbies mm

I like to walk, I was also a keen windsurfer (12th best in a class in the uk at one point)

Then I started work, got in the way of everything.. I left work on thursday, justneed to pass my driving test now :(

Then It's back to windsurfing i'm afraid :)

Been a long time since i contributed to Scoobynet in any form other than in photography bit or the odd post in NSR lol

Used to be on the committee of the SIDC too ! User name is just Ian Cook on all the other sites though !

My main hobby is watching speedway - but like so many others on here with their hobbies of choice that has kind of merged with the photography thing....! When I got back into going a few years ago I had NO intention of getting sucked into being "involved" again but so much for that! :D

Other than that.......reading, working at Beer Festivals, teasing the cat.....;)

Hmmmm,

At one point I would have said motorbikes, I still have one but it's broken after some little scrotes tried to nick it and I just don't have the time to fix it or ride it at the minute. Still have a passion for them though.

Motorsport, mostly on the TV although I have started going along to the local Auto-X championship and I keep meaning to go and see the speedway in Newcastle before I get posted back dahn sarf again.

My dog. I shouldn't really refer to a family member as a hobby I suppose but I enjoy spending my time walking with her so I'll list it anyway.

I love cooking, and if the old saying about skinny chefs being bad chefs is true then I must be alright I reckon.
