It would be interesting to know where people prefer, based on where they live. Personally, I get sick of the sight of cities - I live in London, work in London, and I've seen more photographs of it than I care to remember. I much prefer getting away from it all - as remote as possible - and heading for the country!

That was my thinking. I've grown up in the country and landscapes no longer hold much interest for me unless they're coastal (I live in the midlands). I relish going back to university for the city life though!

Oh I do like to be beside the sea side, oh I do like to be beside the sea,,,,,,, lol :coat:

The coast for me.

Both I guess.

I live between London and the country so its quite nice to do both.

In the country but out of this country. Or, in the city but out of this country. Take me as far south as Europe goes then move me to the big island just to the north.

i'll do both, the city and the country, because of diversity in landscape and building structures, makes for some very interesting photography

I don't care, but my ideal job would be a national geographic style photographer.

Jungle, Desert, rainforest, mountain, I have a real issue with the mundane and routine. Probably the real reason that I don't want kids.

I wouldn't mind spend 2+ weeks wandering Yosemite.

I would love to go back to Shanghai and Hong Kong with my camera and to India too.

At the other end of the scale I also love taking photos in the wilds of Scandinavia.

Slightly surprised by the city/country balance. Is that because most people come from the city and like that the country is something different/novel? Photography as an excuse to get away from people i.e. escapism?

Nope I live in the country and hate the city, hate being in cities and hate photographing buildings and landscapes :D
Give me the countryside any day with just a well behaved dog for company if I have to and not another human being in sight

I enjoy the city, having spent most of my life living in or on the edge of the countryside. After a while one field or tree begins to look very much like another to me. The city holds more interest. The architecture, people, sights and sounds.

Saying that I've always wanted to go to central Africa, out in the sticks and capture the people and their way of life.

The canyons and deserts of the USA - Utah, Arizona, Nevada. Or New Zealand's south island.

Last weekend I'd rather have been in Duisberg, not far from where I live, but unfortunately I was back in the UK on an 'Admin-Run'.

Generally I'd like to be somewhere unpleasant, where unpleasant people are doing unpleasant things to other unpleasant people...

That also has a nice clean hotel with a bar, preferably..

I love getting out in the fields round where I live, but I'd also like to visit New Zealand, Peru and Italy (again). Would also love to fill a few memory cards up on the moon :)

I voted for the country, but the only city I would visit again and again and again is ROME, the greatest city in the world.

By the sea where I can get magical sunsets/sunrises with jaggedy rocks and milky water.

Then for the big lens I can get some waves and surfing, so I'm mainly looking at Cornwall

Both..

I live in a small town and enjoy both the country and the city. My favourite city for photography being Berlin.

in the city, country, anywhere really....you can 'see' photos mostly anywhere especially if folk and their interests are your bag
urban landscape is alive and waiting..

if you do as Alastair above comments on...you must include the non british city/country scenario as quite powerful and interesting vehicle

if i did have a favourite city..from most of the world i have travelled its kathmandu
