Just thought I'd mention it's an open day at WHF, smarden wild cat place. is anyone else going to pop along?

I'd be tempted if it wasn't for the fear of hundreds of school kids and their parents ruining it. I'll check out the weather and my frame of mind tomorrow. I guess it's about 50:50 whether I'll go. I'll update here if I do decide to go.

ive not had issues in the past. I'll go along but they are charging £5 this year which sucks.

Thanks for posting the website I was on the iphone..

lol, funny I read this just days after going there myself, Im on a work computer so cant upload any of the pictures at the moment, will do later tonight. anyway, I went on one of the photography days, was a really good time, the difference between the open days and the photography days is the barriers, when your at the open day your about a meter away from the main fencing meaning no matter what, your going to have that in your photo, on the photography days, you go behind that first barrier, so when you put your lens up close to the second fencing you can avoid it compleatly in your photos.

I had a really good day and personally think I got some cracking photos, ones i definatly couldnt have got unless i was past that first barrier..

anyway, Richard, how did you get on? any pics from the day for us to see???

My in-laws went to the open day yesterday and apparently it was rammed, much better to pay for one of the experience days if you want to get a good look at the cats.

I went last week on a Big Cat encounter with my Mrs, there's some pics here if anyones interested.

We were only allowed past the first barrier with the one cat which she fed so I didn't manage to get many decent shots.

we liked doing our days there, but the massive price hike was the nail in the coffin for us. we put a lot of money their way over the last few years, so it was a shame that there was no flexibility on the price

Yup - its a shame santago had to close because it left Smarden with no obvious competition (apart from actual zoos).

Slightly OT have you ever done/thought about doing a TP day at the British Wildlife Centre at Lingfield in Surrey - I organised a photo day there a few years back and it was top banana and not too expensive
