Ok just for fun really not a true audiophile myself but appreciate decent sound! What headphones are you all using and how do you rate them?.I currently have a pair of bose trports that are pretty old and recently got a pair of fsl zero bluetooth ones that have to say really impressed me for the price! Awaiting delivery tomorrow of some sennheiser momentums on ear.Cant wait to see how these compare:)

Well i find you can't go far wrong with the main headphone specialist brands that make headphones and mics only such as Sennheiser, Shure, AKG, Audio Technica, Grado and Beyerdynamic. With my favourite being AKG probably.

Your probably right mate...must admit I was quite shocked at the price of some of them!

Yes but i've read some where that to get the same sound quality from a got pair of cans from speakers you would need to spend 4 times as much, so you could look at them as a bargain! lol

True lol...although dont think that will convince the mrs:D

on ear - sennheiser HD25-1 II with Custom Cans upgraded OFC cable (~£140 + £60)
in ear - soundmagic E10 (~£30)

both fantastic. the senns are very accurate to source and the soundmagics are fantastic budget IEMs.

When using my MP3 player I use a pair of Koss Spark Plug in ear headphones.

I found the sound reproduction fantastic and they also mold to your ear so cut out all outside noise interference.

I first came across them back in 2007 and have been using them ever since, same pair even.

Shure SE 425 in ear. Great sound punchy bass just a little uncomfortable when worn for a long time. Very good at cutting out external noise and you can also buy replacement wires or earbuds rather than throwing them away if you damage them. I was tempted by Klipsch X10i but I heard a few stories about the wires cracking. Also the Shure are much more secure if you're going to use them at the gym as the wire goes over the top of your ear.

Sennheiser HD25-1 Mk2s, Buy once and never look back - if you break something on them, just replace the part.

Don't look bling like those awful Skullcandy or Dr Dre cans, but don't taint the audio either.

The sennheisers do seem popular!Have to say these momentums are like night and day compared to my bose ones, lovely bass(more than expected) and the overall sound is superb.lovely build quality too!

I have a pair of Sennheiser 650`s myself. But at the end of the day, not only is it what suites us as individuals, but more importantly what you get coming out is only as good as what you got going in (y)

I've never been a fan of bose stuff. Style over substance usually.

Buy Other Sound Equipment.

Overpriced tat.

I've never bought any i was directing it to the OP. I'm not surprised he's heard a big difference between them and his new cans.

Yeah certainly a big difference! Always thought bose were supposed to be top notch but having looked into headphones etc over last few months I was quite surprised at how much they get slated! They certainly must have a better ability to market something though:LOL:

Those are a really nice looking set of can's Stuart, congrats.

I use Senni HD 25 SP's. Mine are 12 years old and still sound amazing. Need some new ear cushions though.

Thanks dean..really pleased with them. Hope they last as long as yours:)

They are gorgous looking. I'm tempted myself.

:cool:Highly recommend them, only been using them on my note 2 so far and using the power amp app but they are cracking! Bargain at £120 as well.:D

Anyone know if I can get a headphone amp for these that will work on my samsung note 10.1 tab?..Cracking sound but a little muted.Plenty of volume on my note 2 phone with the poweramp app.

Im not clued up on such things but cant you just use the same app?

Thanks Neil..sorry for being dumb but would it just plug into the headphone socket then I plug the headphones into that rather than the tablet?

Headphones are very personal. To answer the OPs question, I use Grado SR80s.

Dave
