Been checking out a few different lens deals and have narrowed it down to the following:

Cannon EF-S 55-250
Tamron F4/5.6 70-300 (Non IS)
Not a great deal of difference in the price.

Got a feeling that the Cannon would be the better bet.

Anyone got experience of these lenses?

Canon 55-250mm IS by a mile! Shoots much better than the price sugests!
 
I can't speak for the Tamron as I have never used it. The EF-S 55-250 is a real cracker of a lens. Definately that one for me if I was in the market for a telephoto in this price bracket. I had one for a while and it gave me some great pics - My mum has it now and she loves it too.
 
Again, can't vouch for the Tamron, but the Canon 55-250IS is a belter, esp for the price :thumbs:

I had that feeling from various research on the net and some mags, but it's nice to get decent opinions from people that know from personal experience. The cannon it is for me then.;)

Just got to decide between the 500d and the 550d to use it with. Hopefully be up and shooting within the next week!!!!!
