Yes
inbuilt motor for a/f?and live view?I know some are probably tired of these questions but if answers could be provided for a beginner,I'd be grateful.
-450D
-500D
-550D
-50D

Many thanks.:)

All have Af motors. Live view I think is 500/550 and 50D only from that list.

I thought the nifty fifty was cheap because no motor and the body had the motor?
Thanks.

No its just cheap. All canon lenses have the motors built in, so the bodies dont need it.

Thanks.450D with live view and kit lens may then be a good starter.

Yep, 450d is a nice litte camera, I just found it a bit too small for my hands. Nice image quality though and easy to use.

It would. Don't discount the 40D though. It has live view and prices have tumbled since the release of the 60D. They can be had for between £300-£350 if you look hard enough.

If you can, wait until after Christmas and look on ebay. There will be lots of people selling in a bid to either pay for the season excess or due to upgrades.

Any suggestions for good Canon wide angle lens and zoom lens ..not too expensive as I'm not laying out that much..though enough..if I buy 450D.Thanks.(Landscapes)

Thanks.Don't use ebay.Kerso is offering 450D + kit lens for £400.Imagine it's the US version.

I thought Kerso was an EBay site. If they are from the US they will be the Rebel xti, not a 450D.

Kerso is a well established member on here, although I think he does sell through ebay aswell.

If anyone would care to post any photos taken with 450D I'd be grateful. Some photos on review sites seem a bit insipid (to my untutored eye )

Will second that. A fantastic camera for the price. Some argue the iq is better than on the 50/60D.

It feels more solid and, for me at least, handles better due to the extra size.

Does anyone have or has anyone had the XSI model?would it bother you that it was the US model? This is the model I have the chance of getting.
Points taken about used 40D.

The only issue with the XSI is resale. Some people wouldnt want to buy a second hand XSI, so when you come to sell it, you may not get as much for it as you would a UK version.
If this doesnt bother you, then it doesnt matter.

budget of around £500.
There's a Nikon D40 in for sale section with 2 lenses. The more one seems to discover the more one can be filled with doubt.Ken Rockwell raves about the D40.

Saw a red kite or similar today, hovering about 100 yds away, looking for prey. What's a good lens for getting a close-upof such a bird?

Longer the better really. A 70-300VR on the cheap end or a 300f/2.8 VR or 400mm on the expensive end
