Ok, I have finally come to a decision out of these three,

Tamron 10-24

If I were in your shoes, I'd also consider the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 AT-X Pro

Cost is right in between Sigma 10-20 and Canon 10-22 but performance is top notch with a constant 2.8 aperture across the focal range.

Had to make the same choice recently. It wasn't a neccessity, just a 'nice to have' and I couldn't justify spending over double for the Canon so purchased the Sigma.
Very please I did, from reviews and tests, the Canon is the better lens however I dont think ,in use, I would be able to tell the difference. The Sigma is fast becoming a favourite.

I've the Sigma lens and am very pleased with it, similar reasons to Richard as it's not a lens I use very much (think 2 in the last 12 months ), so couldn't justify the extra for the Canon.
