Which telephoto lens on R100 body

Hi all,

One of those ‘which lens should I get’ threads I’m afraid!

I’m getting an R100 later this week and an ef - rf adaptor ring so I can use my efs 15-85mm lens with it.

The obvious telephoto zoom to go on safari with in July is the rf 100-400, but as I’m already going to have an adaptor ring, I could look at the ef lenses as well. The standout contenders are the ef 70-300, and there’s one with DO in the name. (Smaller and lighter?) possibly the efs 55-250?

Just wondering what your recommendations would be. To give some frame of reference, the second hand prices would be:

Rf 100-400 £500
Ef 70-300 mk2 £400
Ef 70-300 DO £300
Efs 55-250 £130

Or am I being ridiculous even looking at ef lenses and need to look at trading in my efs 15-85 and switch to just rf lenses?

I wouldn’t trade in my 15-85mm lens there’s nothing quite like it! Ha ha. On the telezoom front go with the RF 100-400mm as sometimes you may need that extra range. The AF motors in the RF are probably going to be better than old EF lenses depending on the lens.
