No
don't really know much about these things and i presume they do different things otherwise there wouldn't be much point them having different models

anyhow, basically i want it to make it easy for a dunce like me to get to where i need to get to apart from that anything on top is a bonus....if i had to add something else (i've seen on my mates) is that thing where it beeps where the speed cameras are which i don't think is as standard on all

anyhow don't really care if it's a tomtom or other make as long as it does it's job...advice please :)

thanks

the basic tomtom will do all of this
the speed cameras are just points of interest that beep and you can buy regular updates for this.

the only thing you might want that really handy is, if you get a tomtom that it's 5xx series or above you can have tomtom buddies and see them, but you need a data contract and bluetooth to your phone.
some of the tomtoms also can take live traffic data with an aerial now, but I'm out of date with the exact models.

another alternative for much cheapness is
see this thread we discussed it on http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159765

I have the v1 of the Navigo DizMatt refers to above, It runs tomtom software a treat, does everything you need, @ £52 can't go wrong, Alan.

I've got the basic Tom Tom 1 UK Maps only, it works just great and we have travelled all over England & Scotland using it.

I went for a slightly higher model. The 920 does all the basics but works as a bluetooth handsfree as well.

my 520 does a lot
but I hardly use it
the data transfer via bluetooth, well it hasn't worked properly with the two phones I've tried it with as the database isn't too clever.
the handsfree? that works but it's not great, my headset is much better.
nice screens though. buying again I'd get the cheaper option which does more.
tomtom#s are okay but never trust them!
