Very much a novice and started to increase lens collection.

Looking to spend 300, not a vast amount I know :-[

Any recomendations?

what do you want it for? zooms come in lots of size options..

£300 will just about get you a used older Sigma 70-200 f2.8 or theres the Tamaron 70-300 VC which is around £290 new...

I've always gone for the canon 70-300 is at that price. Nice lenses for the price and the is works really well for the longer stuff

I'd thoroughly recommend the Tamron 70-300 VR lens. I was very impressed at how well that lens worked. Only sold it to help fund my 70-200 which whilst in a different league, is so much bigger and better for pro use than a novice.

Sorry guys, canon, using for whole host of things

Hi Matt

I've the Canon 70-300IS for sale in the classifieds on here, it's in excellent condition and comes with a genuine hood. Only reason I'm selling it on is I'm wanting to upgrade...

I can't believe nobody's asked this. But what are you looking to shoot with your longer lens? Portraits, animals, everything?
£300 is a lot of money to spend on a lens that might not be what you're after (its not long enough, aperture not big enough etc).
