Hi, :help:

Next week I have the chance to visit Whipsnade and having seen some amazing photos on here that were taken there, am really keen to go.

However, I have read through old posts to see what to expect and wonder if my lenses will cope. Will my Canon 55-250 IS be OK? One post seemed to imply this was the very least necessary, so perhaps my 1000d with it's beginner lens won't be up to it?

Thanks,

Liz

To be honest, think you should be OK with it, was there last week with TheNissanMan (Ryan) he was using a 300 and got some good shots, it is a tog freindly zoo, and know you wil enjoy it.

I was there yesterday with a 30D and a 70-200 lens I will post some shots later so you can see what 200mm will get you..

regards

As said you should have no probs... It's a very, very tog friendly zoo :D

It is definately worth paying to take your car in btw...

I'm going down on Wednesday and it's not far from me. Hopefully with a new body if it turns up on time, and a Bigma.

Wow! That was quick, thanks for all the replies! It would be great to see the shots you took ..MD..

I was wondering about taking the car in, the little map on their site makes it look like the car isn't essential to see some of the animals in a 'Longleat' kind of way, but would save time getting around.

Thanks for all the advice, it's really helpful. Oh, and did you see any baby meerkats? They are soooo cute  I would love to see one!

There is a passage through section which you can only drive through although it is mainly deer and camel.

The car is more to get around more than you would on foot, the place is huge and you'll be thanking yourself later in the day for taking it in :D

They had an elephant birth a couple of months back IIRC, so it's worth going just to try and shoot that IMO.

Just put a few into the zoo section for you Liz !!

I will put some more into the thread later.. Taking the car in is not essential but does make life easier..
