Why does TP logout

Yes
It very frustrating when someone puts up a few pictures or one that needs some consideration.

You duly type in you comments and prees the post button and you have been logged out.

When you refresh the page to login your carecrafted comments are gone.
To get round this I copy the comments to Notepad before refreshing the page and repost once I have logged back in.

Any ideas anyone?
Can I change the logout time?

When you login there's a checkbox that says something like "remember me" ticking this stops you from being automatically logged out as far as I know.

There is no logout time setting, that's down to your browser's cookie :)
When you log in, if you tick the 'remember me', you will stay logged in.

:)

:thumbs:Thanks you all for the info.
I don't normally tick "remember me", as a paranoid security thingy. But as I am the only one using this laptop maybe I should.

Before you submit a long post, highlight & copy just in case.
It's a good work around ... just got to remember to do it:bonk:

Might be worth putting that out as a general notice, it has happened to me a number of times. Its that I put studied in comments in responses, its just that I can't type.

that doesn't work for me - I tick it every time and after15 mins or so I have to log in agan! frustrating!

it must be me - I just don't know what - because it's different on my laptop

Security software then possibly. Norton is a known offender :)
Or browser security settings?

I don't think a notice is required about the 'Remember Me' box. I think it's self explanatory...if you don't tick 'Remember Me' then it won't remember you ;)

Not sure there, I thought it was only to remember my login details once I joined.

It's been a pain for me too until today, checked the box and went and had a cup of tea, came back still logged in, great stuff.

^^^ It's even better than that Steve... Don't log out when you shut the PC down and the next time you start the browser and go onto TP you're still logged in :)

if you dont have it try the firefox browser...it keeps the passwords ready and keeps you logged in unless its a bank and then i think the password manager is blocked
i log on from a fav page and it works ok everytime....so far

I think there was something wrong as I was getting teh the other day BUT its ok now.
I can come back next day I am am loged right in BUT the other day I had to type in all my name and password lots of times as I go to see something and come back and was loged out. BUT all working now

Thanks Bill, I just tried it, don't work for me :(

But still happy I only have to log in once a day now

I don't have passwords remembered, nor tick the remember me box, but I don't get logged out, so Firefox must be caching something.

sounds ok...my firefox does ask if you want the log in stuff remembered...etc
anyhow...i only have troubles with some other forums needing to log in each time..after a few days...guess they block password links
