This is the exact reason I don't go out doing bird photography.

You people who do are brave and I salute you. You hear such horror stories.
"When robins attack" and so on...

Stay safe.

Who the hell took this? Instead of helping he just stands there taking pictures? What a true tog! :D

Me and my friend actually had a discussion about this and agreed that (heaven forbid) if one of us were in an accident, that we would want the other person to take pictures whilst phoning the relevant emergency services.

He was fortunate, perhaps.
Eric Hoskins, bird photographer, lost an eye when a wild owl attacked him.

wowowo
damn close one...literally

condors will attack from on high if you move into their territory..usually in pairs

A falconer friend of mine who hunts with Goshawks once got nailed on the face by one of them, talon went through the top of his eyebrow and the top half of his cheekbone missing his eye by millimeters, after he had been to hospital and been stiched up he said he would have pulled its bloody neck if it had'nt been worth 2K.

Hmmph! Long Tailed Tits are just as dangerous when they burst from cover and sometimes they're mob handed!

It was a Tawny Owl. They can be very aggressive defending nest sites and their young, and don't seem to be particularly afraid of humans.

hahahaahhaha thats the best thing ive seen all day. and ive seen a few people fall over in the snow today to, but that is amazin.lol good find.

Very true, and the reason you don't see photos of this behavior is they very rarely leave any survivors!

id like to hear how he explained the claw marks in his back to his missus..

"hunny, its not what you think.. this big bird.." *WHACK*

You beat me to it....:bonk:

Another one to be wary of is the Blue Tit. Any bird that learned used its head to batter it's way through sheet metal - just for some cream - is one to be wary of IMO. They're just biding their time now.

Yes, I have twice had them swoop low over my head when walking in woodland during daylight.

Looks like the lad is a sailor as he is doing the hornpipe shuffle :D

Nah you have all got it wrong,

The Goldie is trying to stop the poor guy from falling over by pulling his back up...
