Hello everyone!
I wonder if any one can help me please? I am looking to take some photos of the rooms inside our French house and as they are really big, I need a camera with a wide angled lens that will get most of the room in. I am looking to sell the house and put the photos on a website. My regular camera is a Konica Minolta Dimage X1 but this will not give me wide enough shots. Please could you suggest a make of camera and where I might purchase it? There are lots of secondhand cameras on E-Bay but maybe it is better to buy new? Also there are manufacturers seconds too - are these a good idea? Maybe Amazon is best? Yes I flounder on anything to do with photography and I would really appreciate any help and guidance you could give me!

On a crop sensor camera you're going to want to go no higher than a 14mm lens - I have a Sigma 10-20 and I regularly shoot at 10mm, in fact i treat it almost like a 10mm prime. On a full frame camera don't go higher than 16mm.

Compacts and bridge cameras can sometimes get wide angle adapters, but I don't know how wide these go or if they're any good.

Now I am a lot more ignorant about all this than you think! Sorry! I need a make of camera and hopefully a lens that incorporates a lens in the camera itself!

Widest equivalent I've seen is a Nikon WC-E68 on a Panasonic LX-3 - which will give (perhaps with a touch of vignetting) a 16mm 'equivalent'.

Would be fine for interiors. You could get the FC-E9 fisheye on it too.....

Try some of the small Canon compacts - they have reasonably budget models with 24mm equivalent wide angle lenses I think. The IXIS 200IS springs to mind. There are probably more.

Seriously consider hiring a local photographer instead, try get a student with a wide angle lens. It could work out a lot cheaper, and hopefully a lot more professional.

It would be a good idea but we are out in the country and there are no establishments like that! Maybe you yourself would like to come and do it for us! We would put you up? Charente Maritime is WONDERFUL - sunflowers and vines! So is our old stone house!

Try to get one of the older Nikon compacts coolpix 900 series for example. There are lots of wide angle lenses (raynox etc) on EBay that will do the job!

You could shoot a series of shots and then use Autostitch (free download) to stitch them together to make a panorama?

I can only find a lens in Miami ! Are there any others I could use if I bought this camera please?

The lens for the Nikon Coolpix 990 Digital Camera mentioned, I think the fisheye lens would give me a totally large picture all round - I just want a wide angle one. Can anyone suggest anther sort of leans that would fit this camera?

What wide angled lens would you suggest for a Nikon Coolpix 990 Digital Camera? I need wide angled and not a panaramic/height and width one like a fish eye would give me.

Incredibly tempting!

Have you thought about hiring a camera to do the job? Lensforhire advertise on here and I'm sure they could sort you out with a DSLR and wide angle lens to do the job.

Alternatively, buy something second hand on ebay, use it for the shots you need then sell it again on ebay. It'll be minimal overall cost to you.

If it wasn't for a lack of availability I'd jump at the chance for a trip to France to take the shots for you.

If your only going to use it for one job consider hire or get someone in for it. A wide angle lens is not cheap.
A one off job will not justify the cost for such a lens. If it was me, Id get someone in for it. If your selling you home you want it right. 1st impressions count and can make a massive difference. :)
There`s alot of togger`s on here who travel and do france regular you wont be short of takers for a job like that.

Well it would be easy for me to put you up and it would be just fab for you if you like Frenchy landscapes and portraits of country folk.
