I'm just starting out with Win7 and I'm trying to get my xbox connected through windows Media Centre so that I can play films from my hard disk. Everything seems to be connected but I'm having problems getting films into the library.
At the moment my films are on a NAS drive which the PC can see fine but I can't add them to the library. I've been through the reasonably helpful help files and it says that if I can't add files from a NAS drive to the library then I need to make these files available off-line. It's my understanding that making them available off-line actually means copying them from the NAS to the PC permanently. If this is the case, what's the point of having them on the NAS except for backup?
I'd rather keep the PC as clutter free as possible and leave them things like films on the NAS, not to mention the fact that it'll take hours to copy the files across. Is there a workaround for this so that I don't have to copy the files onto the PC or is it the only way to get it to work?
cheers.
