Hey all,

Having had my 50d for 2 years, my studio lights for 2 years and my 580ex2 for 12 months now and im pretty confident about using them whilst theyre connected via hot shoe or cable, however......

I want to learn about wireless flash. Not just with the 580 but also with my studio lights.

Each time Ive used flash either Ive used the 580 connected to the hotshoe or via a cable or Ive used my studio lights connected via a cable.

Has anyone got a good thread or advice on how I can start using wireless flash?

Ive seen the pocket wizards and the cheaper equivalents but really dont know how to use them.

Cheers
Andy

Go to www.strobist.blogspot.com.... Literally everything you need to know about OCF

As for triggers, search out RF 602 on fleabay and you'll find what is probably the most popular cheap trigger around. They work with both flashes and studio heads (via a sync cable).

OCF indoors is no different to having studio heads connected directly; you set power to light things as you want and shoot in manual in your case, just working out exposure on-the-fly.

Outdoors it a bit different because you're generally trying the balance ambient AND flash.... Check out the drop-down menus (lighting 101, archive etc) on that strobist site - they are very helpful.

As stated above, use of the studio lights is exactly the same whether connected to the camera or not.

Strobist for the 580EX2 is certainly the best place to start.
