Hey All :)

I have the Wordpress Nextgen gallery installed on my website. I really like the organisation and layout.

One issue I am having is that the navigation through the gallery is a bit pants when the picture changes orientation -

Could anyone suggest how I could make it easier to navigate by ideally keeping the Back and Next controls at the same point on the screen? Or change the Nextgen gallery completely?

When I use nextgen (and my display and portfoilo galleries both use it) I tend to prepare the photo by placing it on a canvas in CS5 first - so nextgen doesn't have to do any resizing and reorientation between landscape and portraits formats. That way the issue with nextgen resizing photos (and the layout of the controls) just disapear. Sadly thats the only way I've found of doing it.........
 
Hmmm good idea Hugh. Would me a mare for larger galleries though... there must be a way of doing it!

Good tip that..!!!

I have used next gen with the slider options before to make the mouse wheel scroll through them or arrow keys. But you do not then get the layout you have used..!

Unfortunately doesnt solve the problem of having to scroll down each time there is a picture in portrait orientation....

its a little joy isn't it - fortunatley I only tend to use it for my public galleries, which haven't got that many photos in and I tend to do alot of procesing on these anyway so adding a canvas isn't the end of the world
 
OO! Got a simply beautiful (and aptly named) plugin! Nextgen SmoothGallery!

Have added it to the link above. Really nice and spot on to what I was after :D

Looks nice with that there smooth gallery, i feel that it is missing a thumbnails or film strip though..!

This is what i meant about the image flow, http://themcbrides.co.uk/wp/ scroll about half way down and you can see all of the options....

No laughing though this is my scratch site...!!!
 
Click on navigator top right :)

You can set it to be permanent or clickable....
