Soon as I open the install.php file it all goes wrong!

php wont open, tried to download a few php things I DONT HAVE A CLUE!!!

So much for the Famous 5-minute install

Any help?

You're doing it wrong. First, find out if your hosting has PHP installed on it. The chances are that it does. You also need MySQL running.

You do need to read the instructions in this case.

The following 2 links are must-reads for those new to Wordpress and creating websites in general.

Once you've configured your settings file the install is done through the browser.

I'm just in the process of writing a tutorial for installing wordpress, will probably do pc as well as mac.

go to your user cp and see if it has an install wordpress link (mine did), that does it for you and is dead easy

If not you need a tut like darren is writing, I used one from youtube :D

Well I downloaded it from the company I am hosting with...totally give up on it and using Dreamweaver in HTML code now. slowly anyway!

Click my link below to see my skill ;-) lol

really? assuming you have a SQL database on your hosting and a PHP server installed then its dead easy to install. You can't go far wrong with the 5 minute install.

All I done was install it to my website using the links through my domain etc.

Downloaded the zip file to my pc and then tried to follow the instruction which just didnt work.

so the stuff in your pc in not doing anything

have you run/wp-admin/install.php on your hosting through a browser

Dude. You upload all the file contents to your webspace using FTP (unless they have a pre installed webspace option) then you run it all in browser.

It is an online system - not a program you download and run local on your machine :)

kayJay's links are what you need.

yes everything was ran through my webspace and there was no additional option for me to click to use it still, I have no idea what I am doing any more and just getting really fed up.

After it said installed etc on my webpage why doesnt a big fat button saying WordPress: edit lol

Robbo don't get fed up! We shall help!
Have you got your website address please?

download wordpress then edit the wp-config-sample.php file put you db name, username and password in the config file where it shows you and rename it wp-config.php then upload the lot to the server, all you do is navigate to the root where you stored the files and it will automatically start the install on 3.01.

it all fails if you havent a db setup

right! NEARLY THERE!

says my data base doesnt exist...which name should be in here? my web addy?

Right I done all the update of them file names and says its already installed!
