Yes
Another part of my work is obsession and ive gone with the kleptomania approach, which leads me to asking, would anyone mind sending me pictures of faces, any face, any size, any lighting, any expression, as long as there is a persons face in the picture!

It will be printed maybe 6x4 or 1/4 of that size as a mini print, with lots and lots of others, maybe in a book, or on a wall.

Any amount, just 1 or 2 would be a big help to me, thanks in advance, could you e-mail them to me jono1717@hotmail.com :)

No problem...
And you'll be paying me how?
My Standard Rate for stand-alone images is £250 per image please...

It wasn't a joke - I need the money...lol

how much would you charge for your ugly mug?

just kidding ....

... your mug would be free wouldn't it, just kidding ...

... you'd have to pay someone to take a photo of it, just kidding ...

Well I wasn't going to send him photos of my face...:gag:
...just other people's...lol

nah thats not dave , its his son staring in awe at his nikon :lol::lol:

haha, it is me, it was taken by a model in pizza express after a shoot, as I was trying to duck out of having my photo taken

I am only 20 mind...

I read the topic title and thought it said "faeces" ... what a **** idea I thought :D

just search on flickr

search flickr for images that are licensed with the right license for your usage, and obey those terms, and you're fine.

without doing that, however, is a big nono. For non commercial use, the link I posted above is the one to use, only creative commons licensed images that allow edits.

In the nicest possible way, you're asking people to give you things in order for you to make money from.

In the nicest possible way, where did they say they were going to make money from this? They didn't.

For all you know it could just be for a personal project

Have you read TP at all?? The "someone stole my image" threads?

Seriously guys, if someone stole your image, you'd kick off, but you're encouraging just that!

Have you read TP at all?

If you have, and as someone has already said, you would know that it is perfectly permissible to use images off of Flickr - as long as the licence terms allow

I think its great you're passionate about this and whatever you do dont let any of this put you off it! Perhaps just take a few days and go out in the high street and take some faces. A friend of mine is doing something similar and has sent about ten disposable cameras around her friends and family all over the UK to take pictures of themselves. :)

Good luck and please post the results.

Have you read this thread at all?
The OP is planning on using the said images for a book. :rules: That implies that the OP is planning on a book that is commercially for sale (an implication, as I have stated). There's a billion threads on TP saying "someone's stolen my image" and people are encouraging just that. What flickr says about licenced images, is on flickr, not TP and last time I checked, Slack Media and Flickr are not associated with each other. Furthermore, I can't read a post that will be posted after my post, before I have even posted my post, can I?

Keith, this isn't the first time you've huffed and puffed over one of my posts. If I annoy you that much, there's a facility in user CP that you may wish to impliment.

If you're anctuois about taking candid images of strangers, there is a thread somewhere that gives various peoples tips, I think it's in Talk Photography and was posted about a week ago (sorry, can't remember much more). One of the things suggested (and I personally find helpful) is use a longer lens, then you're not "getting into peoples faces" so to speak, you're getting the effect from a distance that you feel more comfortable with and you don't feel like you're invading anyones space.

to clear it up, i wouldnt be making money, the book would be a sketch book for my final piece, to be marked by my tutor and maybe shown to my mum if she asked lol, im doing lots of different things, asking people to send me pictures was another way of collecting faces, along with film, staged shots in a studio, taking pictures of strangers on the street among other ways.

always meant to ask you is that you in your avatar? If so how old are you cos the pic looks like it is one of a young boy ... just curious

I was wondering the same about your avatar. :)

Really surprised at the hostility he received for what seems like a completely innocent request... What has he done exactly?

Il see what I can do buddy. Good luck with your projects.

yeah, me too =/ was a polite request for some random snapshots, not stealing work or whatever...

It happens sometimes. I received similar hostility on a thread asking about lens hoods...

It implies nothing of the sort

And your point is?

Did I say or imply that TP and Flickr were associated with each other? No I don't believe I did

Also your reply was to someone who said search Flickr and my response was to that and that fact that you were accusing people of encouraging the OP to steal images

Furthermore, I can't read a post that will be posted after my post, before I have even posted my post, can I?

Did you note the commas in what I actually wrote?

"If you have, and as someone has already said, you would know that it is perfectly permissible to use images off of Flickr - as long as the licence terms allow"

I have? Not as far as I am aware.

But this is an internet discussion forum after all and if I see something I wish to pass comment on then I will do so.

Now if you don't like that then it is not my problem and maybe you ought to use that facility in the user CP ;)

For the purposes of this thread, please could you clarify what exactly the faces (keep nearly writing 'faeces' too :D) are going to be used for?

You say they're to be used in a book or on a wall, is it for a hobby? Around the house? Or to be sold, put up in a gallery etc? It sounds like a minor point, but if you clarify it might get you some more interest

Not having a go or being hostile, just trying to help you out :)

This might be a chance for my mug to be famous...

The OP said, on page 1, that "to clear it up, i wouldnt be making money, the book would be a sketch book for my final piece, to be marked by my tutor and maybe shown to my mum if she asked lol," - I'm guessing he's a student and preparing for finals.

Ah, thanks for that, I hadn't seen it! That makes the request much more reasonable in my eyes than if it was for commercial purposes!

As said before, flickr has loads of photos free to use for non-commercial purposes (I think ) which is probably your best bet, if you're unsure whether you can use them or not, drop the photographer an e-mail

Actually i was not asking him/her to go and steal pictures on flickr :nono:

There are thousands of photos on flickr where the license on the picture can allow you to use them for this purpose.

Of the 5 that complain that someone stole their pictures, there are 100s who couldnt care less if someone uses their pictures. In fact they encourage it. :)
