WRC - Rally Japan

yeh we can only hope that mikko and latvala can hold off loeb to reduce his points advantage as he will surely take over the championship lead, BIG and ultimately costly mistake by marcus, his first 'big' mistake of the year.

out with a broken roll cage whilst leading........ sounds a bit like australia last year! a mistake which cost him the championship

I've lost interest in WRC to a great extent, ever since the manufacturers managed to turn it all limp wristed. But I'd be interested to know what you have against Loeb?
I've always thought he was pretty amaible for a Frenchman, he paid his own way in rallying by buying and selling rallycars and preparing his own. Which I can associate with much better than those who got a drive because of daddy's name.
Am I missing something?

I have nothing against loeb, just would like to see Marcus Gronholm win the championship in his last year in the WRC and I have been a big Ford fan for years so also want them to get the manufactures championship too.

i dont think anyone can have anything against loeb hes the quickest rally driver out there on the majority of surfaces (snow and finnish gravel to name to) but on tarmac hes in a class of his own and on gravel hes as quick as marcus, hes also annoyingly consistant, although this year he has made a number of errors which are most unlike him.

WRC is reeling from a loss of a number of drivers over the past few years- burns, mcrae, martin, meaning that with marcus' retirement at the end of the year there is no top flight driver to consistantly take the fight to loeb in each and every rally. mikko is best of the rest in this respect but can only really challenge for wins on a number of rallys, (sweden, finland etc) which will more than likely mean that seb will walk it next year. there seems to be a problem in that there arnt many drives available and this shows in the lack of up and coming talent right now to battle with loeb, in a few years maybe latvala will be up there but who else, atkinson is quick but throws it off all the time, sordo is very quick on tarmac but doesnt exactly set the gravel alight on the rough, theres a large contingent of up and coming talent such as wilks, pG andersson, aava, mikkelson, higgins, all who wont freature for a number of years unless they get picked up very quickly by the top teams

ive just woken from my slumbers to find that both loeb and latvala have both thrown it off the road, leaving mikko 40seconds out front, more amusingly matt wilson is in 5th and there are 2 munchis fords in the top8, WHATS GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

loeb has to finish 5th to take the lead in the championship and that seems very unlikely, so it looks like we are in for a thrilling final 2 races of the year if things stay the same!

Aye it is shaping up to be a good final 2 rounds in Ireland and Wales. Wish I was going to Ireland now but I will make do with RAC.

Hope Mikko can keep it together, another talented driver and the right person to take over from Gronholm.

yeh looking forwards to the RAC this year, not sure where im going but more than likely it'll be on the saturday, went to epynt last year but didnt find a great corner

I think you are on about Wales Rally GB when I was meaning the Roger Albert Clark rally which is a proper rally, I can hear those BDA escorts singing threw the forest already:D

sorry yeh its easy to confuse the 'old' RAC lombard rally GB with the pathetic tour of south wales parks and gardens that it has now become, think of all of those lost stages!!!!!!!!!!

ill be heading to the rallyGB as well! it would make an awesome showdown to the year if loeb and marcus go into the rallygb on equal points with all to fight for..... and then marcus absolutely destroys loeb to finish first and take the championship

a good solid finish from mikko, proves hes the best number2 driver in the business at the moment (although next year he'll more than likely have to raise his game to lead the team)

quite what was going on from position 4 downwards is completely lost on me and thats what happens when you loose loeb, gronholm, petter, atkinson etc from the field. either way its good to see a good result for the munchis boys, these lads dont get much in the way of praise but all the mechanics are great chaps

as ross says, roll on ireland, hopefully marcus can push loeb hard and get second place and then a win would seal the championship in the welsh mud
