Took a moon shot a couple of nights ago and was surprised as to the amount of flare.

Shot in RAW and fed through lightroom 4 with no adjustments.

EXIF
F8
ISO 200
20s exposure

No Filter attached and a spotless lens. Any ideas as to what i can do to reduce the flare or is this common in the X100's?

I have found the lens flare to be worse than any other camera or lens I have owned.

A lens hood is the answer for most situations although not sure it would help with yoru situation.

Its the first time ive really pushed it. Took a similar shot a few years ago and wanted to revisit with my new camera, but the flare is very strong compared with the nikon 18-200, which only had one spot at a similar exposure. Half glad its not a faulty lens ...

Very surprised, when the little X10 is virtually flareless.

Yep, I have also owned an X10 but then the lens has nothing in common with it so no reason it should be flareless too.
