:)wo! sorry in advance, there really is no point to this thread, except my generall happyness :D:D:D after weeks of emailing countless venues and bands in my area, ive finally been given a gig to photograph :) its for a band called fightstar, at a venue in bristol :D so un-beliveably happy right now,

got to calm myself down...

ive shot verious gigs before, but never for a proffessional/signed band, (moving up in the world:naughty: )

any advice at how to appear proffessional and what not?:)

thanks
nathan

Using capital letters and running a spell checker may help.

On the night, an air of 'I know what I'm doing and I'm supposed to be here' helps (even if inside you're not!)

Congratulations on the gig by the way.

Conbratulations Nathan. I hope it goes well.

Well done! A word of warning on Fightstar though, they have a pretty bad contract that comes along with shooting them, I can't remember exactly whats on it but im pretty sure you have to sign over the rights to all the photos. Ill have a look for the contract now.

Isn't fightstar that band with the guy from that other band? As for advice, just have confidence in yourself! People around you won't really understand what you're doing, but if you seem to know what you're doing, that's what they'll think too! And congratulations!

Chris

as above, isn't it charlie from busted?

Yeah, he's been in this band 3 or 4 years now though, this must be their third album. There actually quite good, ive seen their live show and their excellent. I think he's only beginning to be known as Charlie now rather than 'isn't he the bloke that was in Busted?'

Yup it's Charlie from Busted.

Congratulations on the gig mate, enjoy yourself :-)

Managed to dig out the contract from their last tour:

1.4 that you have or will bind the proprietors of Authorised Publication / Website and their agents to the terms of paragraph 1.2 above in writing;

1.5 that following our request you shall provide us with 1 (one) copy of each of the Photographs in such format as we shall request.

3. You grant to us and/or the Artist the exclusive right to exploit the Photographs throughout the world in perpetuity in any manner without any further payment to you.

4. You agree to indemnify and hold us and/or the Artist and/or his/her agents harmless from and against all actions, claims, demands and costs suffered or incurred by them as a result of a breach by you of any term of this release form.

5. This Agreement shall be subject to the laws of England and the parties hereto submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts."

1.5 and 3 stand out as eye openers to the ****** contracts that music photographers are asked to sign
