zip files on PC to open on a MAC?!!! HELP!!

Hi all,

Get great advice from here so turning to you all for help again. I need to send images to a MAC through email, im a PC user. To do that I used 7-zip and archived them and sent them on but the MAC user couldnt open them. Should this work or is one of us doing something wrong?

I've never heard of 7 Zip but I assume that it isn't compatible with the Mac platform.

If you download a copy of Win Zip (the evaluation version is free), the Mac will be able to un-archive the file

Just had a quick look at the 7 Zip web site and it does appear to be very much a Windows only utility

You'll be fine with Win Zip though

If it's Windows XP or above (Vista/7) you can right click on the files you want to Zip up and choose 'send to -> compressed folder'

That will create a .zip folder which you can then email. Saves having to download WinZip and stick extra stuff on your PC

Eiter option will definitely allow the files to be "unzipped" on a Mac

7-zip uses its own 7z format which I doubt a Mac would recognise. It will use the standard zip format but you need to select that option.

As above, either way will do it as they both create Zip files.
