    Replacing a 100-400mm L

Thanks for that pete.rush - much appreciated MatBin - Yea I had considered a 70-200 f4L, although not with a converter. I was thinking of maybe just grabbing a 70-200 and seeing how I got on, I won't be able to shoot the small UK birds I normally do and I've never been that happy with 400mm...

    Replacing a 100-400mm L

Yes, I don't use it *much* but I still want the range when I do need it. I'd just rather have less money tied up in something that doesn't get used much and put the rest of the money to something I may well use more. For example, I could get myself a Sigma 100-300 f4 for the times I need that...

    Replacing a 100-400mm L

Will do, it was exceptionally nice to use and gave me some very good IQ for the money. At only ~100 quid more than I'd pay for a Canon 70-300 IS it'd be a no brainer to me.

    Replacing a 100-400mm L

The size/weight doesn't bother me, I'm used to carrying it around. It's purely monetary - a thousand pound lens sat there doing very little when I could get 90% of the IQ from something nearer £400. It sits better on my mind!

    Replacing a 100-400mm L

So I've got to the point where I'm not using my 100-400 enough to justify keeping it! However, I'm having a real issue finding something to replace it with. I've got a Canon 55-250 IS Mk2 which, for the price, is absolutely brilliant and I used to own a Sigma 100-300mm f/4 which I seriously...

My Saturday at the Southport Airshow

Some good shots there, it was difficult to get many useable - I've still got at least 1400 to process :S

Sigma 70-200 powder coating pealing off!?

Very common with all of the EX Sigma lenses unfortunately, does affect the 2nd hand value but not all that much as its so common

should I go to just one body

I guess the question is.. do you use two bodys? If you do, then yes you need two, if you don't then no you dont. Simple as that really.

BG-E2n Grip stuck on my 50D

Last time I had to get one off I ended up using pliers and a knife, got it off with only minimal plastic loss to the actual "screw" part of the grip

    eos 350 to eos 500d

CF card speed has absolutely nothing to do with fps when the camera is using its own internal buffer.

    Infrared glass filter for hotmirror

You could contact ACS (http://www.advancedcameraservices.co.uk/) and see if they will sell you one? I'm not sure if they will provide the filters without actually doing the conversion for you - but worth a go! ProTech may also be able to help: http://www.protechrepairs.co.uk/

    Sigma 17-70 focus issue

The siggy 17-70mm has a pretty crazy MFD so I don't think he would be too close.. I don't think I've ever managed to get within the MFD to be honest and I've managed to bump into my subject while shooting it lol EDIT: although website say 7.9" I've managed to get focus at the wide end at...

    Coin cleaning

Mix 1 part lemon juice, 1 part white vinegar, then put about a tablespoon of salt in. Mix it all up, bung the coins in, stir. Shouldnt take too long and works amazingly well on all but the most soiled coins. Saw it in some video a while ago while trying to do the same!

    sigma 120-400, question?

If your looking at it for a Safari you may want to try hiring a better lens, hire a good L lens for those "once in a lifetime" trips - rather than get an inferier quality lens such as this. Check lensesforhire.co.uk
