    Sigma 150-600mm contemporary

Had mine a month and have only used it for a few garden test shots to adjust focus & IS modes. One thing I will say is that the lens is sharp and focus is spot on at all focal lengths. It was a whim purchase, but I hope to get around to using it eventually.

    Sigma 120-400 & Alternatives

At 400-600mm the Sigma and Tamron 150-600's will be faster/brighter than the 100-400's which will need a TC to get there. Below 400mm there is a third of a stop disadvantage for the longer zooms. If you don't need >400mm then a 100-400 is a great choice. On the members market they go for ~£500-£600.

    Sigma 120-400 & Alternatives

It depends upon how much you can afford. For ~£500 I suggest a used 100-400L mkI. If you can stretch to £700 go for the Sigma C 150-600. I own the latter and it is sharper than my 100-400 was throughout the range. It is also black which I prefer. If your budget is >£1200 get the 100-400 mkII...

bg-e9 grip & aa batteries help

For info, I have used AA's several times within my grip and they hold up pretty well. A single LPE6 has a capacity of 1800MaH @ 7.2v. Six standard Eneloop AA batteries provide 1900MaH @ 7.2v, so on paper offer slightly more clicks than an official battery. In the real world I achieve ~400...

    Tamron 24-70 v Sigma 24-105

Both Tamron and Sigma have suffered quality issues, but they do appear to be getting better and better nowadays. Your choice should really depend upon what you consider to be most useful, one-stop more light or the additional 70-105mm range. Personally, I really like my Tampon 24-70 VC. It is...

STM Lenses - Worth the upgrade ? Please post your pics

The 50mm STM is a nice compact lens. It focuses faster and a bit more accurately than the original 50mm F/1.8's, but optical it is identical. I dropped/broke my mk2 50mm so replaced it with the STM. It is not worth the upgrade cost but it is slightly better.

    6D with 24-70 mkI or 5DIII with 24-105 f4

I really like the Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 VC on my 6D. So, my vote is for a 5D3 plus the Tamron.

    upgrade from 40D

I went from a 40D to 7D before moving to Full Frame. The 7D is much better built, much higher specified, and IMO has approximately one-stop high-ISO advantage over the 40D. Pixel for pixel, ISO 400 to 1600 images appear similar, but the 7D has 80% more pixels, making things look noticeably...

Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD any good

I use one with both the Canon 6D and 7D. It replaced my Canon 70-300L which was a lot heavier and too conspicuous (white) to carry around all of the time. IQ is pretty close to tha L, although there is more vignetting on FF and AF is not quite as fast. The VC is excellent, and build is fine for...

    £150 compact camera v iPhone 6

The iPhone 6 has (it hurts to say this) an amazing camera for the given sensor size. It has allowed me to replace my compact, but it does have some major limitations. There is no optical zoom (digital does not count) so you must use your feet for composition where possible. It also suffers...

    7dayshop sd cards

Ahh. but do you have a battery analyser which can measure their actual capacities? My Maha C9000 showed 7dayshop 2800mAh rechargeables to be horrendously overrated and extremely inconsistent. Some of the cells retained less than 1500mAh immediately after a full charge, whilst the best ones only...

Help - Which Camera - 6D or 7D Mk II?

    Good choice, you'll love it.

    7dayshop sd cards

If you want ultimate reliability then Samdisk's reputation is second to none. If you want good value and solid reliability then Transcend are worth looking at. Having had bad experience with 7dayshop AA rechargeable batteries in the past I personally would not touch any of their "home brand"...

Help - Which Camera - 6D or 7D Mk II?

80% of your photography favours the 6D and only 20% for the 7DII. Get the 6D, and if you feel you need more FPS, reach and AF focus points in the future buy a used 7D classic to compliment it. I own both the 6D and 7D and use the.6D much more frequently.
