Spot the dozy moment. :bonk::bonk:Thanks for setting that straight. Shows how much misinformation can be innocently dished out on these forums.

    PLEASE HELP WITH DECISION!!

Whatever make you buy, I think it is worth keeping in miund that you are buying into a system. Unlike with a compact the story ends there, with a SLR the body is just the start. Think about the sort of photography you do and may want to do in the future. Check to see if suitable lenses etc are...

    Which Tripod

A lightweight, cheap tripod becomes very expensive when it topples over and takes your prized camera and lens combo with it. It is worth (my opinion) to also look at the head. A poorly made head will not lock in place properly, or shift as you tighten it. One with a quick release plate is handy...

    Bobby the whippet collie cross

Lovely little lurcher. The face of innocence. Only criticism would be the dark object in the top right hand corner is a little distracting.

How to get rid / Draw away from a bad Background?

Thanks. I can't decide between the two. I usually end up trying both and seeing which is best.

    Wedding Advice

I've done a couple of weddings under exactly the same circumstances as you have. Both were done a budget of about £2.50 and a packet of crisps. On both occasions I found that, after going through an agreed list of photos the bride or groom would say 'Oh, can you just take one of us and .....'...

    Why use manual mode?

Try working in a studio with only a basic trigger for the flashes. In one of the automatic modes, the camera will meter for modelling / ambient light. When you press the button all the lights fire and the poor camera is a million miles from where it wanted to be without a clue of what happened...

    Shutter Life Question

I don't even take mine outside. It remains with the lenses in a padded case (silica dessicate bags to the keep atmosphere stable). If anyone dare touch the bag then all hell is to be paid. Anyone want to buy a camera, one careful owner, not even used? Like hell. I bought it to do a job. I look...

    the fungi army

I prefer the original too. The space around them provide a sense of location that is a bit lost in the crop due to the sheer abundance of fungi. Excellent photo which ever one you choose.

    Photo storage/backup advise.

Beware if you are only backing up the files that have changed, you will need the initial full backup to be able to rebuild all the files.

    Have a giggle (new camera)

I know that the camera shop I use log all the serial number of the larger items, bodies, lenses etc. So that would a lot of handling of the item for the shop assistant not to realise. The odds of the shop assistant accidently picking the D700 box and it having the barcode of the of a D7000 on...

    New PC help!

Only scary thing with PC world is that you find that after you have done five minutes research on the net, you know more than the person attempting to serve you! (The absolute waffle I was given when trying to buy some partitioning software was a joy to hear. On plus point with PCW is you can...
