Olympus OM-D E-M10

I know they're not f2.8's, but the quality they can produce is fab from what i've seen on mu43.

Have a look at this

Or for a different take on things and ultra portable, what about this

Or this one...

Imagine an E-PM2 with the 9mm fisheye on it, i reckon it would be smaller than an XF1!!

No idea. If I got a 25 1.8, I think I'd miss the wide end. And there's no way I can run to £750+ for a lens as this is just a hobby..

I do like Paul's shots with his 75mm but I like macro so maybe a 60mm 2.8 is an option for me. And the 75-300 appeals too..

It's the price difference on the wider quick lenses that's a killer

A cheaper alternative to the 60mm (in the short term) is the Kenko extension tubes (still £99 though )...I've seen some great images with the 45mm lens.

As an aside, for anyone unaware, SRS Microsystems are having an Olympus open day today....a few promotions on bodies/lenses but also a good opportunity for people to have a look at the kit.

9mm fisheye is a superb cheap fun lens, image quality is pretty darn amazing

I have recently despite most reviews got the 12-50 and already I want to contact the reviewers and ask them what they were on the day they wrote the review.. reading between the lines some of it was based on the RRP so I guess they were expecting an outstanding pro quality lens which you don't get... BUT for £135ish quid you get a more than decent IQ wise, 12mm is awesome, you take a pic @ 12mm and then at 14mm on a standard kit lens and see how much difference that 2mm is, its really wide, yes speed wise f6.3 @ 50mm is slow but then again ISO of the camera it is likely to be attached to can handle it.. the macro function isn't true 1:1 so thats the specialists out but blimey its a lot better than I was expecting when based on other non true macro macro functions I have used.. weather sealing always good especially when attached to the weather sealed EM5, build quality is good and it holds well in the hand, the L-FN button is a handy addition I have it set to digital tele converter which I think its appropiate for an on lens button, so to the final feature, manual and power zoom, manual zoom nothing special but WOW the power zoom is for me out of this world for video, its so smooth and deadly quiet I am absolutely in love with the power zoom.

its a great all round performer and at the current used prices a bargain IMO..

Just been to the local camera shop - they don't stock olympus as the owner thinks they might be a flash in the pan  So he showed me the e-x1 instead. Quite nice but not balanced, even with just the kit lens on..

Hmmm

eh!?!?, so the owner does not stock m43rds as they might be a flash in the pan but stock Fuji X.. bonkers.. sounds like owner might not have an Olympus account.

You could be right, David. I don't think it was for me - if was "ok" but didn't grab me

Thank you.

The 60mm f2.8 macro does portraits really well as does the 45mm f1.8 ( I have both lenses)

Both with the 60mm Macro

Thanks - the 60mm macro looks good enough for me. Will check out the mu43 forum

I liked the silver but thought it looked a bit cheaper - as this was £70 cheaper I wasn't too worried though !

I got mine for £599 including the power zoom - they only had the black though

I got a bargain too...body only though.

Silver E-M10 listed as used turned out to be brand new (the kit lens had been split from the kit, hence the used tag) for £399. Seriously, it's brand-spanking new and now fully registered with Olympus, getting the additional warranty.

Couldn't be happier.

LOL!! £400 is an awesome deal!

That's a brilliant price :) I swapped my kit lens for a 12-32 which suits be better - all for £599 so I'm chuffed with that

Just need to add a 40-150 and a fast prime now......

Yes, right place, right time...unusually for me!

I've got three lenses, 14mm f/2.5, 25mm f/1.8 and 45mm f/1.8. I'm after the 40-150mm too as well as the 60mm macro....ideally I'd like the 75mm as well but a) want to get used to the kit I've got and probably more importantly, b) my wife would officially castrate me! o_O

I've got a black one too!

Along with black Oly 45 and 75mm.

I'd like to complete the prime set with a 17mm but I can't justify it as my Ricoh GR is my walkabout camera of choice.

p.s. don't have any samples in my sig links as they are mostly wildlife with a DSLR.

Seeing the way the em-10 handles high ISO. It looks much much better than the d7000 I have

I think alot of CSC's handles high iso better than the D7000...

But I've been to Bempton Cliffs today and whilst the extra crop would have been nice, not sure if the AF would have kept up? I've used 3D AF-C today for the first time and I'm really impressed if I'm honest.

I'm late to this party... I went for the 75 over the 60 after much agonising, but the DoF and bokeh are worth it. I use some cheap ebay extension rings with the 45 f1.8 for macro with fair results, but I'm much more into people than bugs. I rarely use the 40-150 - whenever I did I just regretted that I hadn't put the 75 on and cropped.

Yes, I'm generally a prime user....have been for ages, the last zoom lens I had was hired for a special trip!

I think the 60mm macro & 75mm will be the final two lenses to complete my kit but will have to wait for now.

It looks to me as if its cooking the RAWs with some noise reduction even when Noise Filter is OFF.
This was suggested in some Sony NEX cameras too : using the same sensor as the Nikon D7000
I wouldn't worry : D7000 RAWs take nice NR in post anyway, the E-M10 sensor cannot physically do better, so something else is going on here.

Reading the comments on that link, noise reduction was on auto which probably gets rid of hot pixels. Noise filter (the usual NR people think of) was off.

Exactly.
I can see that noise reduction has been applied to some extent, yet the settings were "Noise Filter OFF".
I have no objection to manufacturers cooking RAWs, but would appreciate an admission.
A step forward would be three image output types : uncooked RAW, cooked RAW and Jpeg.

a couple of shots from my walk yesterday, just snaps really but there was something almost lord of the rings about the wood, so I tried to add a bit to that effect in the processing.
