    Headline news?

Might not always be possible on a story of this nature (published report) due to deadlines, but in this case they did apparently (and the real family was used for the story inside pages) - so they should have possibly used a photo from that...

New or used? Which do you prefer?

Used, as I have made savings of up to 50% on the new price. But when the price difference/saving is minimal I will buy new.

    Headline news?

Some background: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/andrewbrown/2014/apr/16/daily-mirror-weeping-child-lie-food-banks Photo taken in 2009 of an American child crying over a trivial incident (earthworm in a park!) used to illustrate a story on the rise in the number of food bank users and...

    Nikon or Canon?

This one doesn't sound great: http://visualsciencelab.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/sony-exercises-their-right-to-build.html (and I am slightly baffled as to the selling point of a mirrorless camera in a dslr body as one of the main points of mirrorless is smaller and lighter bodies, not identical...

The pain of others: Photographing despair

Interesting article on the AFP blog: The pain of others: Photographing despair http://blogs.afp.com/correspondent/?post/The-pain-of-others%3A-Photographing-despair I found the article/blog post via a link from the comments section of this article which covers a similar theme and is also worth...

    I don't understand...

No I clearly never said that and I think you are aware of that. Sounds like a Straw Man fallacy to me.

    I don't understand...

That is not the case. Loss of liberty is the main punishment in any event - but the 'prisons are like holiday camps' thing is largely a tabloid myth. People who have committed more serious crimes are highly unlikely to be in an open (cat D) prison (most likely likely Cat A or B) unless they...

    I don't understand...

In the US there are people who committed crimes while juveniles (under 18) and who were given life without parole sentences. The case of Jennifer Pruitt (who was found guilty of felony murder) is one example. [In some US states, "Felony murder is a guilt-by-association conviction: If a victim...

    I don't understand...

On the face of it it goes against the concept of rehabilitation - but perhaps it acknowledges that some people are beyond rehabilitation or that their crimes are so serious that the only punishment should be a whole life term. It's very rare in the UK - I think only around 60 people currently in...

    I don't understand...

Police involved shootings are investigated in order to show wether or not the use of force was justified. In any case the use of a firearm by police as an act of self defence or defence of others in response to an immediate threat to is a totally different thing to a state sanctioned killing...

    I don't understand...

If someone represents a ongoing threat, then they would not be released as their parole would be refused. The most dangerous prisoners (in the UK) are given a whole life term which means they will never be released.

Several people have commented to that effect on various photos but the OP has ignored all these comments while still continuing to post shots. Maybe it's supossed to be some kind of a wind up/ joke??

If Fuji X Pro 2 is Full Frame...

Most of those 'rumour' sites are run by the same person. They need to post daily contact in order to get backlinks, repeat visits (and revenue) and they get far more wrong than they get right. Something being spread around a few 'rumour sites' and then linked to from a few other places hardly...
