What bothers me about the shot is the brownish haze over the north end of Portland - normally anything that obscures Portland is a good thing (not a lover of rock apes :D) but in this case it is a very distracting smudge on the horizon.

I have a 30D and good friend has the 40D. I prefer the 30D - sits easier in my hand; cheaper, produces great pictures. The 40D, though younger than my 30D, is a bit broken now - shutter release doesn't always release and the AF doesn't always either. 30D just keeps on keeping on. B.
