I used the 100-400 Canon, which I find very good for daytime football. We don't have that much floodlight action over here! Besides that, the lights are terribly bad, when it actually does happen. Also use a Sigma 70-200, f2.8, but AF works not that fast with the Canon cameras as I would like...

Slowing AF sounds the opposite of what you would normally like... But I see the idea Mark, and will try so for the next match. Am I right, that it is setting C.Fn III-1 which should be adjusted towards SLOW. As a standard setting it is ZERO. My experience will follow :)
