Canon CPS is changing to a paid service

Can’t see that the benefits are worth the expense and I say that as a pro with platinum membership for years. Email annoyed me and I see this as an own goal for Canon but then since when did most companies care about customer service.

    Ear phones - which ones?

Pros have noise cancelling and a slightly different fit. I have both - pros are better

Buying Printer, is it worth it?

There’s a lot of good advice here already and even though I sell prints fairly regularly for my business printing is both a frustrating and rewarding process. I currently have 3 printers all of which produce different results at different costs. I have the Canon pro1000 which produces sublime...

A Ceiling Mounted Lighting System For My Studio

Sounds like a comprehensive set up, hard to picture it completely. Sounds like it would be difficult to reposition lights quickly but I’ve certainly seen a lot of people swearing by the higlide system, used to be by Bowen’s but now I think is AJ’s that sells it. I wouldn’t have thought you would...

Notice Some big changes coming to TP

I've hardly been a prolific member over the last 10 years but have always found the forum a friendly and informative place, would be sorry to see it go and from the comments above it sounds like there should be enough interest to keep it going. Well done to Marcel and the team for keeping this...

    What medium for "forever" backup?

It's not always hardware failure - I have a perfectly good raid system that is considered end of life by Promise Technology with 12 TB of data on it and apparently it won't work if I upgrade to Mac OS Catalina - or at least the software that manages the drives won't. (not the only issue, lots of...

Studio flash brands – I'm 30 years out of date

Well Bowens went bust although I still have four heads going strong - any minute now you will probably get recommended Godox or a rebranded equivalent as they are 25% of the price of any of the traditional brands. Lencarta are also good value for money. Broncolour are great but stratospherically...

    New rental studio

The North / South thing is a fair point (after all we can buy a castle up there for the price of a terrace house down here!) Remind me to travel up North to get my next car

    New rental studio

Scooter - you expect a lot for £15 an hour! I can tick all the boxes you ask for at my studio in St Albans but it’s £50+VAT per hour. Oh and that’s usually a dry hire rate with kit on top! It’s no wonder studios are closing down at a rapid rate if that’s what some are charging. (Maybe that’s for...

Advice please - Lighting a double decker bus

I lit a whole truck on a company shoot with one B1, camera on tripod multiple exposures blended in photoshop - pretty easy and I think thy would give you the pop you are looking for. You can also put flashes inside or the internal lights with a longer exposure to add some detail.

    MAC or PC?

Been using Macs of various guises for over 15 years and I’ve always preferred the OS. I’ve always had really good service too but despite coming across as an apple fanboy I’m sure these days PCs for the same budget are going to be just as good. The surface pro looks good. You either like the...

Monitor Advice: Is 100% AdobeRGB Worth it

Certainly easier on the eyes, using a larger screen that is. Or even better as a 2 screen set up. I've had Benq ones recommended to me as being as good as Eizo but a fraction of the price but not felt the need to replace my Apple 27" monitor just yet. Just make sure its calibrated and I'm sure...

Playing with light and colour in a portrait series - my Youtuber Yearbook shoot

Works really well as a set - an exhausting but rewarding couple of days! Had a play with a 645Z recently - are you pleased with it?
