I did 3 days in Paris with a Lowepro Passport Sling bag, enough room for a couple of extra lenses, accessories, and a jacket etc. Not a bad bag for £50.

I have the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC and it's a very good lens but reports are that it suffers from sample differences so whether you'd get a sharp lens could be open to chance. If I was buying again i'd get the Sigma 17-50 as I've read it's a better lens.
