Whatever the prices, clearly customers are finding the prices worth paying, since Sony are reporting camera and lens sales increasing by over 50%, even in what we all know is a shrinking camera market.

Plus the A7RIII has USB3.1 for improved studio tethering, while the A9 has an ethernet port for use at big sporting events, and an extra top dial. Quite a bit of differentiation when you put all the little bits together. The shutter blackout is presumably due it not having the on-sensor fast...

Looks like fairly big firmware changes to the a7 II series cameras. Biggest being that it looks like you can set the rear d-pad to full time AF point selector. (Link)

Sad to see you go, happy for all the circling vultures! If I hadn't already spent far too much this month I'd be tempted to join them and take that 70-200 off your hands.

I don't doubt for a second that it's anything but outstanding, but it's not like we were hurting for a high quality 50mm. It just seems like the lens design and manufacture time and energy could have been better spent elsewhere.

They already have the stellar 55mm f1.8, I'd be surprised if this offered a significant jump over that - it's not like Canon/Nikon land where the 50mm f1.8s are pretty low quality. The 55mm is tack sharp wide open and the situations in which the minor flaws show up are few and far between...

Well that doesn't say that nothing else is produced at the site, just that it's the primary site for sensor manufacturing. It also doesn't say other sites weren't affected. The above statement would be true even if Sony makes all of their cameras, phones, TVs, and playstations there too...

Your contract is always with the retailer, not the manufacturer You may have additional warranty rights with the manufacturer, but UK law does state that the responsibility lays (at least within the first 6 months) with the retailer. However, I've always found Amazon to be good with this sort...

I think that's pretty much what I meant, but I probably phrased it poorly, as I usually do :). Zooms let you set your perspective and framing independently without having to crop/stitch/change lens. With the prime, unless you're going to crop in post or change lens, changing the perspective...

To me it's about flexibility, and background control. Zooms control the background by allowing you to move towards or away from your subject to pull in or push out the background while maintaining the same framing of your subject. Fast primes control the background differently - not by moving...

There's not really a "best settings", because everyone is different. What I'd recommend: When you've got time with the camera but nothing to shoot, in the custom key settings, assign help to one of the buttons (I think it's called Camera Guide, something like that). Then trawl through the menus...

I've got a bunch. Sandisk, Lexar, Transcend, and a Sony. Unfortunately the limiting factor is the camera (unless you have real bad cards). The A7 cameras don't come close to maxing out the SD card speeds, it's one of the things they really need to sort out for the next generation.

Yeah, despite that adapters are making good progress (and the Sigma adapter with Sigma lenses shows promise), I still don't think I'd trust them with moving subjects just yet. To be honest I'm still amazed that they even work at all, and kind of wish that the Nikon ones that are starting to...
