Mamiya C lenses have a floating element , non C lenses do not. With a non C lens you just focus the lens on the ground glass screen with the bellows focusing. With a C lens you first focus the lens in the same way on the screen, but you actually have a further focusing ring to adjust on the...

    The Duffers.............

Yep -your ID is correct - there's only one bird with that electric blue colour! Maddeningly difficult to catch these birds in flight - they're so fast. Your best bet is to set up to try and catch them leaving from or alighting on a regular perching spot if you can identify one. Being...

Contax G2 system - what do we think please?

I think you should waver, at least until you've picked one up and had a good play with it. You can see how much opinions vary just in this thread. Old thread with some G2 shots.... http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=137135&highlight=Contax

Contax G2 system - what do we think please?

That would be me probably? I still have the G2 and the 21mm. I love the G2, I love it's weight and the technology packaged into such a beautifully made little camera... it just reeks quality. The manual focus is a tad iffy, but the auto focus is quick and positive and there's a very simple to...

HELP! Jammed Hasselblad and I fly tomorrow!

I'm a bit late coming to this, but most problems with Hassys locking up are caused by removing the lens without the shutter and camera body both being cocked, which you should never ever do. If the lens was off the camera you could see by looking at the back of the lens that there's a slot into...

Happy birthday to one of our most esteemed members....

Thank you kindly. :) It's my 70th actually, which everyone seems to think is a bit of a landmark, but I'm still acting like a kid, still driving silly cars and not planning any major changes in the near future. :D

Happy birthday to one of our most esteemed members....

Aww.. Thanks everyone. It was Jan's birthday last month too so No2 Son is taking us out for a posh slap up meal next Saturday and he's driving so I'm gonna get well hammered! :D I've not been around much lately I know, and truthfully I'm not doing much in the way of togging either - just too...

Have a good look at the bellows - avoid it it if there are any signs of cracks or pin-holes. Check that you're getting a full range of shutter speeds - same with the apertures - make sure there's no signs of the diaphragm blades sticking. Check the state of the seals in the camera back...

    Rape/sexual assault charges

The offence used to be 'indecent assault' which was simply defined as an assault accompanied by circumstances of indecency Due to the fact that an indecent assault wasn't necessarily a sexual one, a new offence was created around 2003 I think of 'sexual assault'. I'm not absolutely sure if one...

The nice thing about the RB67 is that due to the bellows focusing it snaps in and out of focus very positively compared to the Hasselbald which is a b*****d to focus accurately without a split image screen.

    Canon EOS 7D Owners Thread

On the 7D there is a setting which causes the whole viewfinder to flash red very briefly as you achieve focus. It's a custom function setting - 'Viewfinder illumination' I think, without actually checking. It's excellent - give it a go.

    What car do you drive?

I won't say never, but I'm not planning any mods. Car And Driver have just timed the stock TTRS at 3.6 secs 0-60 - I'm not planning any track use so I can't really see the point, it's a daily driver with all the grunt I need, but we'll see. A simple Stage 1 remap would give over 400 bhp, I...

    Rape/sexual assault charges

    Rape/sexual assault charges

Courts are more sympathetic these days Garry for sure, but the bottom line is some guy stands to draw some hard time so the defence will do everything they can to get him off and if that means showing the complainant to have a promiscuous past or whatever, they'll be seeking to bring the...
