    Creative live

I've bought courses from there before and watched others, as a general rule I've found the quality to be great. I dont really think $99 for 3 eight hour days of training is that much compared to other sources of training, thats what I paid for the Zack Arias course.

Anyone Not use a camera strap

I always use my neckstrap but never round my neck! If i'm shooting I wrap it round my hand in case it drops or someone tries to run off with it. Never had a problem with either so could probably have done without it so far though.

    DSLR Camera Rigs

It's like watching 2 pioneers at work. Every piece of camera equipment should come with furry dice and a cupholder.

    Free-lensing!

This article explains it quite well. It's not just about shallow depth of field, but changing the focal plane so it doesn't lie perpendicular to the direction of the camera. I think he gets some pretty cool results considering he's using no additional equipment.

    20 24 28 or 35mm on a 5Dmk ii

I looked at this range before and although I eventually settled on a 17-50, I did decide that a 35mm was probably too close to a 50mm to warrant the extra money. If I was to do it again and I was keeping the 50mm, I would go with something in the 20's and then you can "zoom with you feet". Have...

I've gone and done it again

A very well deserved win, congrats! Care to share a bit more info about the photo?

    Which canon 50mm 1.4 or 1.2

I've seen one photographer use a 50mm 1.2 and couldn't believe it when they changed lenses and put it on the pavement! For the price difference I would really need a reason for that extra half a stop, considering you could pick up a 50 1.4 and and a backup body for the same money.

Poll: Which Format do you shoot in?

RAW for me- used to shoot jpeg when I first got an SLR and when I look back at images from that time I could kick myself! Particularly the Mumford and Sons gig I shot when they first started out- could have done a lot more with them if they had have been shot in RAW.

Diary of a pro (part 2)

Great reading all round Pat, but particularly enjoyed this post. I agree with your point of view about the "photographic nirvana" of straight out of camera which some people aspire to- why not use lightroom/photoshop if you think it will improve the image?

    Need help from TLR experts!

I've seen good reviews of the Yashica D so that's on list to keep an eye out for. Not having used a TLR before I'm not sure how I'd get on with a pseudo-TLR, might be worth a shot though if I come across one cheap. The main reason for wanting to get a film camera (apart from the...

    Need help from TLR experts!

Funnily enough I've actually just taken a look at some online reviews and it does confirm what you just said - bit of a shame really but thanks for the warning! Looks like it's back to ebay unless anyone can point in the direction of another legitimate seller?

    Need help from TLR experts!

At the moment the only Yashica available from the shop is the Yashica 44 which I think takes 127 film rather than 120, and I havn't heard very good things about the Seagulls. The TLRs listed above all have a good name behind them and I'm happy to pay the price so I'm not too worried about...

    Non branded camera bag

I've got a GEM backpack which is supposedly a copy of the Lowepro computrekker in all but name. GEM isn't a well known name so won't be targetted like lowepro would. As for the bag itself, there is plenty of room for camera+lenses+flashes in the main compartment, a large bit for accessories and...
