    Winter Wildlife Trip?

Got a few places on my winter photour "bucket list" - Yellowstone, Iceland, northern Norway, Antarctic (when I win the lottery). So, any experiences of tour outfits to the above, particularly Yellowstone? Lots of folks on web bu I know from experience that there are phototours and there are...

Anyone got experience of "CPES" for repairs?

Dropped a Nikon Pro lens and ended with insurers. They want to use a company called CPES in Staff as "we always use them" and they quoted 60% of the Fixation quote. I'm nervous as they're not on the Nikon Authorised Repair Centre list and, when I rang them, the chap "didn't think anyone was...

Bird Challenge # 26 "Birds Making Nests" VOTING NOW OPEN!

As a (not very successful) BTO nest recorder, I hope all you faithful togs were following the birds back so you can let us know how productive all these freshly made nests are later in the year :)

Taken near Rovaniemi, Finland, the other weekend on tour with the wonderful Finnature. Never knew they could pack so much into two days!

    Good Hare Day

Brillilant (albeit wet) week in Shetland with Hugh Harrop. Here's a couple of yesterday's arctic hare shots fresh out the camera. These haven't even been cropped - the mad hare-brained animal began to bolt, stopped, then decided to lollop around to get a better look at us, before returning to...

Bird Challenge # 25 "Birds In Flight" VOTING NOW CLOSED!

Cloning?! The only processing here was to crop out the nyger feeding said Goldie was hurtling towards! Hopefully my goldfinch fighting 'arena' will be ready soon and I can get some action shots in focus this time...

Bird Challenge # 25 "Birds In Flight" VOTING NOW CLOSED!

This one's not my entry (see the eagle shot on page1) but I throw it in for comedy value. Behold - the levitating goldfinch!

    Frozen Dipper

I think is the best of the dipper portrait shots from Wednesday. It was minus lots and a little icicle had formed at the tip of its beak, poor chap. At least he was obliging enough to sit still so I could shoot as slow as 1/10s on a 500mm with 1.4TC! Think I managed to crack the exposure...

    Purple Sandpiper

    Another Nuthatch

Yep - the D700 is fab at high ISO and great at still resolving detail with the TC and light years ahead of my trusty old D300. Imagine what you could do with a D3S...!!! Can you send any spare nuthatches you have down to East Anglia please so we can have a go too :)
