Really nice shots. 1 & 2 are the pick of the bunch for me. It was an interesting day lighting wise, seemed to change from near darkness to blazing sunshine in a matter of minutes at times.
Out of curiosity, which side of the fence were these from?
You can park infield again this season for the first time in years. Costs £12 on top of your normal ticket price according to the email I got last week, so might be worth considering.
Please bear in mind that Donington is rather hilly, and the spectator access around the track is either grass...
Is this the image stabilised one? If so, it doesn't appear to have a panning mode so turn off IS or you'll be fighting against it as you're moving the lens which won't help the resulting shots.
Thanks Gary.
:'( That's what I did. They were all taken down the pit straight which had the only available extra lighting.
Even waiting for the cars to be lit by others behind them didn't seem to help much, just couldn't get enough light in the camera I guess.
It's not helped by being public...
Headed up to Donington to try some night shots for the first time (other than some light trails a few years ago).
The first challenge was to avoid getting blown off various parts of the circuit in the rather hurricane like wind. Thankfully the rain stayed mostly at bay, although there was enough...
Awesome set
"Challenging" really doesn't do justice to how hostile the conditions were at times. And as it was that bad for us, I felt really sorry for the drivers!!!
I have a very similar looking set of shots, but a lot less sharp and a lot noisier, I guess spots with enough ambient...
There's not really a lot to them, and the instructions are so badly translated that they're near worthless anyway.
Simple steps are:
- Put batteries in
- connect tx to camera and rx to flash
- turn everything on
- shoot
Edit - I tend to turn the triggers on before turning the camera and flash on.
I'm not familiar with the game, but it sounds like a good plan
Maybe best starting with the dice rolling part with a simple command line interface initially.
If he'd like someone to cast an eye over his code once he's got something up and running, I'd be happy to take a look.
It'd be worth concocting himself a little project idea and trying to see that through to start with. Otherwise it's such a large topic that he could just find himself chopping from pillar to post and not really achieving anything.
Have a google for "Thinking In Java" by Bruce Eckle. You can download the whole book for free, along with all of the source code. Might be a better bet than paying for a book if he's not sure which way to go.
Get that, a copy of Eclipse IDE (www.eclipse.org) and the JDK and he's away.
The Sun...
Had an interesting day at Donington on Sunday. Almost drowned during the afternoon F3 race, only for the skys to magically clear for the start of the GT race.

3. Aston
4. Sunset...
Nice. 4 & 6 are really good. Where was 5 shot from? It'd look a bit better with the headlight trail just above your logo cloned out, it catches the eye a bit.
Hi,
Had a wander around the Monkey Forrest in Stoke at the weekend and managed to grab a few shots (in-between restraining my son from running off and joining in with the primates!).
I don't venture into this section of the forum very often, so any crit would be much appreciated :thumbs...
