First attempt at motorbike racing photography

I was playing around during the day. Only using the shutter priority with lowish ISO 200-400. The shutter speed varied between 200-1000 depending on where I was. The image above was: ISO 400, 105mm,f/18 1/160. In terms of lenses I was having a look around. I would only be taking photos on sunny...

Thanks, I had an attempt with iPhoto to bring out some more colour: Didn't realise they were so dull until I started playing with the image!

First attempt at motorbike racing photography

Was good fun today at EMRA at Mallory. Never attempted this kind of photography before! Got a couple I was semi-pleased with :) Plus lots and lots of blurry pics. Cam is a D7000 with the stock 18-105 lens (not done anything to these images, crop etc)

    Robin in the garden

Yeah, its was great fun. Will need to keep the camera to hand when working in the garden. Thanks for those tips, I'll give that a try. (I hadn't actually done anything with the picture, just processed the RAW image as the camera saw it)

Thanks for the pointers, I did consider where the bird was looking on a couple but when I got up close I totally forgot, was just excited it didn't fly away! :) I see what you mean about the contrast, when I looked back over them this afternoon I thought they were a little bright/white/over...

    second attempt at sunset

OK, so tried to lighten the foreground DSC_2473-3 by joe19random, on Flickr At least now you can see some of the green field, although it does introduce some noise? Not sure how much further I could push it.

Lens suggestion for Silverstone & Motorbikes

Hey All, I've been reading about various lenses for motorsport (in general) however I'll be mostly at Silverstone and photographing bikes. I've seen a few reviews/comments that at Silverstone you need additional length. I planed to rent a few lenses before actually purchasing anything...

Thanks for all the comments, this is a cropped version. DSC_2473-2 by joe19random, on Flickr I'll play around in lightroom, should be a good learning exercise. Edit: Yes, shot in RAW, forgot to say.

Fairly new to all this. I knows the image is dark but I thought the red sky was nice. No real editing etc DSC_2473 by joe19random, on Flickr
