    Nature...Wild but not so Free

I do go fishing; mostly in the sea, and always try to be as responsible as possible with regards to the environment. Unfortunately single hook rigs, or even just barbless hooks wouldn't solve the problem and would be extremely unpopular with fishermen. Unfortunately lines tend to get snagged and...

Help choosing a point and shoot

Thanks Dave, with the pricing over here I can go roughly to 150-200 equivalent UK pricing as I persuaded him to increase his budget to £150 for the very reasons you mention. My sister used to have a Sony, the night mode in that always seemed to produce good images.

swapping my Canon 70-200 f4 IS for the 100-400 on FF

I have used the 100-400 a fair bit on safari, whilst it is definitely capable of being shot hand held for extended periods I somehow feel more comfortable with a mono-pod or something to rest it on. The IS is useful but shows it's age a little with regard to newer lenses. The comparable 70-300mm...

Help choosing a point and shoot

Not the usual topic here I know, whilst I find myself perfectly competent choosing a dSLR I am tasked with getting a relatively cheap point and shoot for my Step-Dad. He isn't really sure what he want's and to be perfectly honest I think he just wants a new camera to enjoy. I can't imagine him...

    Canon: The Single Red Ring

Whilst your attitude and apparent knowledge screams 'troll' I shall attempt to feed you with some advice in the hope you get off your high horse and respectfully take on board the advice that you requested by creating thread. The 1dx is an excellent camera that will excel at almost anything...

Buzzard and red kite do lunch...

Stunning shots, I enjoy the extra colour in #2 but the posture of the buzzard in #1 wins it for me!

    Few photos from S America

Firstly welcome to these forums, It is amazing how much you can learn by reading various guides and also by simply looking at other peoples work. A dSLR should never be used as a point and shoot think about your subject, the background and how you want to compose the shot, you need to have a...

    foxes

#1 Is lovely, you should have spot healed the branch in the top left out though. #2 For me is really well composed, but there's something not right I cant quite put my finger on. The bokeh is also quite distracting.

    7d slow mo

Depending on what you want to do with slow motion, have a look at twixtor.

    Cricket

I'd have to agree I'm afraid. It creates ghosting around the player which looks like the camera wasn't still when the shot was taken. Ideally you want good bokeh so the background isn't distracting and the eyes naturally get drawn to the action. This effect is far to distracting for me.

    What tripod??

I was looking at the redsnapper stuff, now very tempted by that benro kit. Looks exactly what I need!

Which is shot with the "expensive" lens....

#2 appears to have more detail, but its hard to tell with small samples.

    Canon 200-400mm F4 L rumour ?

Given the sigma 120-300 with 2x and 1.4x extenders will give the same range at the same aperture the image quality for 1/5 the price is going to have to be extraordinary!

    Upgrade from 500d to 60d

It depends on what particular feature you deem to be inadequate enough on the 500d to warrant purchasing an upgrade.

    left handed cameras

You would have to have left handed lenses too. All the controls are on the left hand side of them, were a body with a left hand side grip developed it would be impossible/impractical to reach and use the controls.
