Where to try out tripods in/near London?

Thanks. I wonder what the Calument ones are like - haven't been yet. Just had a quick look at the Manfrotto 190. Seems a bit shorter than what I'm looking for. From what I've been reading its best to have one that is at least as tall as you and if poss without use of the centre column. Am...

Where to try out tripods in/near London?

Hi, just wondered where there's a good shop in London (or near) with a wide range of tripods so that I can have a look without having to travel around too much. Especially interested in Feisol as I read you can get a tall one without it being too expensive? Also any advice on a tallish...

Altering aperture are you meant to see the brightness change before you take the sho

Lol, bit of a dizzy moment  I still find it strange that the exercise expects all cameras to show a change without having to press a button at each different aperture. I'm assuming that means that most cameras do it the way the exercise describes?

The dof button is doing absolutely nothing. Bizzare. Guess its a trip to a Nikon shop. Thanks for replies.

Lens and camera were both in manual. I have a new D90. Does that mean there's something wrong with my camera?

Altering aperture are you meant to see the brightness change before you take the sho

Hi there, I'm doing an online course and on one of the exercises it says "alter the aperture, and watch as the image in your screen grows lighter and darker" but it doesnt make any difference to what I see in the viewfinder. Only when I take the shots is there a difference in dark and light...

This course sounds great (has taken me a few days to read this whole thread). Do you think it would be ok for me as a total beginner. Just bought my DSLR a couple of weeks ago and just getting my head round the controls/settings etc. I'm thinking this course will help me to focus while I'm...

Nikon D90 manual :-/, any suggestions for companion books

Just got the D90 a couple of weeks ago and am very new to photography. The manual seems to be all over the place. (At the moment I'm trying to get my head around the AF modes - dynamic, auto, 3d tracking etc etc) I'm finding the best thing to do is to google questions that come up eg. "why...

Hi guys, I just bought a Nikon D90 (yay) and a Sandisk Extreme video class 10 memory card. The instructions say "if 'f o r' is displayed in the control panel format the card as described on the following page" Mine didn't show "f o r", just the the number of photos that can be recorded...
