Nikon 14-24 wideangle fixed lens hood damage

Dropped my 14-24 (don't ask) and somehow the fixed lens hood is now skewed i.e. it's twisted and in the wrong place. Anyone else had this problem and, if so, can it be fixed without sending to a repairman? I've tried brute force and it isn't budging.

    Settings for flyball

Gem, I photographed my first Flyball tournament just before Christmas. First couple of hundred shots just weren't sharp even though I was cranking up the shutter speed. They only sharpened up at 1/500th+. I will be doing more, as our spaniel (Millie - left) is really loving it, so happy to swap...

Beginner - horses - DSLR or not?

Thanks all. Confirms I wasn't missing a trick. Will suggest she goes and handles a D3200.

Beginner - horses - DSLR or not?

A friend has just asked me for a recommendation for his sister, whose passion is horses, and wants a good camera for show jumping/dressage and occasional cross-country. Having hopefully asked all the obvious questions, I think she needs something with a quick shutter and a long zoom but can't...

    AWB - film

After having to adjust the WB for an indoor shot over Christmas, it got me wondering how this is handled for film, is it a darkroom issue?

    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

I have seen both in a magazine and online that you can change the Info Display to "Graphic". However, checking my D7000 and David Busch's comprehensive book suggests you can't. Are these sources cutting and pasting from older models or do I need to unlock something? Help please?

    Special effect lens

That's the one. I can afford one, but I certainly cannot justify one! I love the effect though. Tickles me. Thanks for the quick answers guys.

    Special effect lens

During the Olympics I have seen a number of video and stills which create the effect that real images are models i.e. people look like little plastic people. Is this a setting on a normal lens or a special effect lens?

What lens for taking pictures in rooms?

I use a 35mm prime, which is pretty good for parties etc.

Architectural comp - help needed please?

Good answer. It's not that we're devious but we're a small business and have not yet broken into profit so spending thousands on a pro seems excessive. I thought there could be a better way, which a student might be. Thanks.

Architectural comp - help needed please?

I was wondering about that, but is it? No one is forced to submit anything so it's not exactly exploitation. The take-up might be zero. However, if you happen to live in, for example, Reading and regularly walk past one of the subject properties, you might grab the camera and have a go. Nothing...

Architectural comp - help needed please?

We are a small business (10 people) working in the real estate finance industry. Over the years we have funded various projects throughout the UK including offices, shopping centres etc. We were thinking of commissioning a specialist photographer to travel around taking artistic black and white...

    Do manufacturers hold back spec?

As the manufacturers upgrade each of their pro, semi-pro and amateur ranges, do they hold back 'spec' to maintain relativity between ranges. For example, the new D800 has 36mp, does that mean the the D8000 will also have that? Price-point is clearly an issue, so which high-spec items are cheap...
